And Bethel and the tommies losing  ;D

I will admit to snickering a bit about that. ;) However, in non-conference games, I like to see all MIAC teams do well. It helps to lend credence to the amount of talent and skill in the MIAC.  8)

You are right of course Bennie, but I couldn't restrain mysylf to a snicker, had to laugh out loud.  I guess the question remaining here would be if the Johnnies can get the triple.

Buena Vista 21
Bethel 16
FINAL
Both teams played tough all day but BV's D proved to be to much for Bethel.

Good to see the Royals are in playoff form in Sept.

Cobbers prove it's never over til it's over ... (revised post).

WAHOO3

After a very sloppy first half, the Oles beat Luther 26-19. The Luther ground game dominated all day which kept the Ole offense off the field. It was 10-6 Luther at half, but a few big pass plays in the second half to Gant,  Schmiesing, and PSJ gave the Oles a victory. Penz really sharpened up in the second half and threw everything on the screws (even a late long ball to Gant was dropped in the endzone would have put the Oles up 14). Overall a great day for a football game in Northfield. Good crowd, physical play, and a great way to open up the 2007 season. One kid who really stood out today for the Ole defense was Nick Rydberg. Kid was all over, sideline to sideline, running down the ball carrier and making plays.

Let me start by saying what I'm sure we're all thinking:  Haha, Bethel. I'd like to see Scrubby come back to rationalize that game away...

The Johnnies sure looked good today.  The big things they'll need to work on coming out of the this weeks game are figuring out how many players are allowed to play at one time (2 too-many-men penalties) and shoring up their 9th string defense.

Saw a bunch of good things from Ben Vanderheyden, Brett Saladin (looks like Kofoed's favorite now that he's back from injury), Jeff Schnobrich, and Joe Boyle (his scramble for the TD was something else) along with the usual suspects.  The offense was clicking from the opening kickoff, even with the backups in.

Honestly, Mt. Union... 52 1st Qtr. pts?  Just go away.  No one likes you.

Did Russell Gliadon surpass the total PAT's and FG's from last season this afternoon?
