Just a note to everyone including any and all new guys (concussedole, retiredole) that it's not too late to join the MIAC pick-em league.  Here is the linky.  You've only missed 1 week so there's plenty of time to make up for it, especially with the new points system.

Inquiry: How close is Kofoed to breaking Kirchoff's record for career passing yards? I'm assuming its a certainty that he will break it, I'm just suprised I haven't heard anything about it.

I'm assuming you're referring to his MIAC record (MIAC games only)?  If my math is correct, Alex currently stands at 5231 yds for his career in MIAC games meaning he needs to throw for 1414 yds. this year to break Kirchoff's MIAC record.

I got the same numbers, Chris ;D

Duff, are you all set to watch your Alma Matter on FSN tonight?

Yeah, it should be pretty cool.  And Johnnie alumni Matt Darling is coaching at Sartell, as well.  Should be a good game, although the loss of Luke Sweeter will be tough to deal with.

From Frank's blog:
"* This was pointed out to me on the Wisconsin-River Falls web site. Admission to Falcons football games this season is $7 for all games, except for the St. John's game which is $8. Not sure if that's a reflection on the amount of visiting fans the Johnnies bring along with them, or there's another reason for it. "

If you're going to the game, be sure to stop at Bob and Steve's (not the 1st one, but the 2nd one you see) to hit the ATM so you're prepared to help UW-RF fill their coffers. And if you're an early riser, you might just catch the magic of live radio. 8)

I don't think UWRF will win by THAT much.

Hey Janesvilleflash..... :D

nice turnabout...glad to see you're not throwing in the towel yet....

this reminds me of the finsleft joke about the guy who thinks the 60 yr old woman is offering her daughter (as well as herself) for a night of 3-way-love-making...turns out she's offering her 90 yr old mother....

good luck saturday....

The commentary on #10 made me laugh out loud!

The UO uniforms are hideous! I am surprised that they weren't #1! :-[ I guess when I pledge $100 million dollars to the Athletic Dept. they will let me design the uniform. 8)

FreeBird-
Your post asking for Johnson to be fired is so laughable I'm not sure if it was meant in jest, but for discussion sake I'll assume that you're serious.  Is Coach Johnson himself an alumnus of the program?  Yes.  Has be brought a sustained level of success unlike anything else Bethel football has had in its history?  Yes.  Does he fit in with the kind of leadership and mentorship that Bethel wants from its coaches?  Yes.  In light of these facts, I'd say the man has earned the right to stay a while longer ;).  Let's say you get your wish and Johnson gets canned; do you have somebody in mind that could take the program to that "next level"?  Or would you just pull a Red McCombs and fire a coach without an obviously better replacement option?

Carl,

All of those are valid points, but let me ask you this.  Do you think Coach J is capable of winning on the national level? Do you think Coach J can put together a good string of seasons with out major let down game like against Carlton?

Marty Schottenheimer went 14-2 last season with the Chargers, lost right away in the playoffs, and was fire.  Did he earn the right to stay a little longer?  Obviously coaching changes in the NFL happen much more often and a school like Bethel values more than wins and loses in their coaches.  I think that is what you were getting at when saying he has earned the right to stay around a little longer.

I just think if we want to be an elite team we need an elite coach which in my opinion Coach J is not.

In an interesting side note every major sport(Mens Basketball, Hockey, Football, Soccer, and Baseball) head coach at Bethel aside from volleyball(Central) and womens bball(GAC) is a Bethel Alum.  Is this similar at other MIAC schools?

Smedindy,

Welcome to the north country!

I know we have crossed swords......I mean chatted before, looking forward to meeting you in the future. As you know from reading this board a visit to Collegeville should be on your schedule. I think we also discussed your not being available for the 15th however, too bad should be a great double header opportunity for anyone as crazy as me.  ::)

See you soon.

Yeah, I have a wacky schedule as I try to sell a house back in Indiana - as my family is still there for now. But hopefully I'll be out and about at some point.

I can't believe they didn't rank the trainwreck that was the Syracuse all-orange. What a nightmare!

Everyone needs to read the UniWatch blog that Paul Lukas puts out - for all of your sartorial discussion needs.
