Agreed, that Oxy did get a hard pick in the first round.  The thing I am surprised about is that no one out of the west was moved to a different region.  I believe that the west region is by far the toughest region and will take the hardest of work to make it out of the region.

Anyone have any info on the Coe Kohawks?  Thats all I got.

Cobbernation: Based on the one time I saw Coe play SJU,2002 in 17 degrees & windy conditions, they play run it between the tackles type of football. Their coach is a former Mount Union player ,then assistant coach who took over at Coe a couple years back (maybe 5 years??) I also remember they had a lot of kids from the Chicago area on the roster if memory serves me correctly. Just have the Montana mountain men growl at them & you should be on to round 2 ;D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Touchdown Tommy

The last thing the Cats of Linfield want is to face Oxy, Concordia, and Saint John's.  Mark my words, they will NOT survive that gauntlet.

Even Touchdown Tommy wouldn't be so dumb to assume the Wildcats couldn't go through that stretch.

I think the unanimous #1 throughout the season gets the benefit of the doubt.

Special thanks to Mr. Roers, Mr. Fahey, Mr. Foley, Mr. Ward, Mr. Esq. Sr., and the rest of the crew who joined us before the game yesterday, and who put in the time and effort to make it a successful event.  Hope we all had fun!

The sea of red surrounding the campus had to be a real problem for the recruits the Tommies had show up, not to mention an "embarrasment" for UST (coming from the Tommie alum and now SJU monk with whom I watched the game).

Red cups to welcome the Fighting Scots of Monmouth!

Today Kilted Rat,Johnnie-Esq. & myself have popped in on the Midwest Conference board to welcome Monmouth. So far, those 3 posts are more action than the whole board has had today. I would venture a guess the don't talk about Hamm's,80's Wrestling or 80's sitcoms?? I mean, you can only talk about football for so long each week ;D

Does anyone think that the first and second round of playoff games should be played at the "higher seeds" campus site and then a neutral site for the other playoff games?  Especially when you have some many undefeated teams in the west bracket.

sjusection105

That is a good point Cobbernation, but you must keep in mind that then the NCAA has to pay to fly BOTH teams to said neutral site ;) That my friend would cut into the profit margin :o

I will be making the trip north, with my family, to see SJU in the playoffs. JR and the tailgating regulars, anything thing specific I can bring from the Windy City for the grill? Am going to be busy practicing shotgunning this week-the photos from ROR give me a nice scouting report. :D

Johnnie Esq, I am sure the recruit situation is a real Catch-22. I'm sure Knights could tell us how many fans show up at any of the other MIAC games,500 maybe? So do you bring in a kid to an empty stadium and a close game to let's just use Bethel as an example. The kid says, "there is no atmosphere here" then you bring a kid to let's use the 2003 Tommie/Johnnie game and there are 7,500 people & the Tommies play tough. Then the kid thinks he is the piece to the puzzle the Tommies are missing. Then you have yesterday, 7,500 people & a blow out of the home squad, the kid says to the coaching staff "I'm keeping my options open" which is another way to say no,but he is too uncomfortable to come out & actually say no.The when the coahing staff "gets back in touch" with him in a week or so, the kid has already made up his mind & UST is not part of his future.
It has to be a HUGE advantage for a recruit to come to a SJU home game and experience Collegeville. I believe it was your younger brother who said "Collegeville is not a destination,it's a state of mind" or something similar. Smart kid ;)

In case anyone would like a Microsoft word printable version of the brackets, here's one I threw together while procrastinating today.

Good points, 105.  A nice advantage SJU will hopefully continue to enjoy.  He is a smart kid, isn't he-- sure didn't share any of it with me ::)

I just felt sad for the UST admissions office giving tours to prospective Tommies, who then see a sea of red in the parking lot and in the stadium with a mere hint of purple.  Not too sad though... ;)

KR, the NCAA's bracket is clean here
