'Tis been far too long since I had my last post so here it goes..  First congrats to all the teams in the MIAC that are really showing promise this fall, a special shout out to our friends at Carleton (sorry St. Olaf) for a huge offence versus MN-Morris this past weekend.  Next, an apology to the Bethel Royals for some of the amateur posts made by a few Cobber Backers earlier (We are typically the "Fans Of Exceptional Quality), we are not overlooking you guys, in fact I'm really pumped to see your offence after the loss of so many great players to graduation, hope to see you at The Jake on Saturday!  Finally, I always have nothing but the biggest respect for our Catholic friends down in Collegeville, mark my words, Reformation Bowl 2007 will have all of the earmarks of the classic CC-SJU showdown that we have all come to look forward to, so start getting excited now Johnny Rats! **Mark your calenders 9/22/07**  We should have a fantastic race for the title in 2007...

STJ had me nervous this past Saturday. I'm rooting the Johnnies on all the way to Salem.

Thanks for the support, kcreds.  Just so you don't get thrown off the bandwagon too quickly, we prefer "SJU".  We even made it into a neat little logo and threw a "#1" into the U.  People get confused when they see "STJ".

Looks like the Pios have their work cut out for them this week with Baldwin-Wallace.  What a way to start the season.  I imagine you still hold high hopes for this week's game?

So what would you think about a "hip hop" theme for this Saturday when Auggie Tech comes to Collegeville? Everyone could wear "du rags" and I will bring my gangster hat. Music could be B96 all morning. As always, Auggie Tech fans would be more than welcome.

Sounds great! As long as I don't have to wear a do-rag and listen to hip-hop music, oops, you can't really call that music.
Seriously JR, if I have to listen to that crap, your boom box might "accidentally" fall off the table.  ;)

So Paris Hilton is played and the boombox stays on the table and I get chided for making the cd "disappear" yet you'll knock the boombox off the table for playing hip-hopalotamus????

All crap music is crap music regardless of whether or not the singer has a night cam video! :o

BDB - I'm surprised no one (except me now) has given you credit (and +k) for your fine pick-up/link to PC looking on his map, and the Miss Teen SC "answer". Your mind continues to amaze

     ...too much Hamm's? ;D

Is there such a thing as too much Hamm's?

In my expert medical opinion... no.

I didn't see any of you guys either.

You were probably passed out drunk in the back seat of your caddy with one hand down your pants and the other balancing your beer on your belly.

I celebrated Saturday's game by drinking and grilling with some Navy buddies on the beach, then swimming after dolphins, getting yelled at by life guard for swimming after dolphins, swimming after dolphins again, getting yelled at again, more drinking, forgetting to put on sunscreen anytime during my 6 hours in direct sunlight, and getting a hellacious sunburn!

I can finally wear a shirt today without it hurting like hell. Being in uniform yesterday hurt like hell!

Silly,

I believe the Auggies are traveling to Collegeville Saturday, not the other way around.

Darn. I keep looking for Arenaville, USA, on my map without success ...

Well Pat at least you have a map.

Miss Teen South Carolina thinks that most Americans don't have maps.  ;)

Don't forget about the poor people in the Iraq and South Africa too. It's not just US Americans who don't have maps such as.

After two weeks of non conference action we have seen a few things take shape: SJU getting wins over teams from both the OAC and the WIAC, Concordia getting wins over two scholarship schools, Bethel splitting with the IIAC, and of course Carleton's big win over Morris, power of the UMAC ;). So wher do you think that the conference stacks up nationally?

My two cents on Cobbs vs Bethel this weekend:
-Both running defenses are looking pretty darn salty, each allowing less than 2 yards per rush, so whichever D can continue that trend should have an upper hand.

-Another stat to keep an eye on, the Cobbers have converted 58% of their 3rd down conversions, this tells me that they are getting the running game going, as well as mixing in a fairly successful passing game to put themselves in third and short situations, this is a huge key, because this offense is not made for 3rd and long.

-Finally, what the hell do I know anyway???  Saturday should be fun, Cobbers over Royals 24-19
RB George Rogers, about the upcoming season:
"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."

Hoag signing with Edmonton

Talked with Hoag at the opener and he was trying to decide between this signing or turning it down in hopes of an NFL team calling. He had already told Edmonton no to a multi-year deal, so they lowered the years and upped the money to make it more enticing. However, he's now locked into the deal for the rest of this season and can't opt out if an NFL team needs a speedy WR/special teams guy — which doesn't seem too far fetched, considering he made it to the final cuts with the Redskins.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Apparently you have to be special to send personal messages on post patterns... at any rate a big Go Irish goes out to tmerton and thanks for the support in the BU game as well, it should be a great test for us.  As for the Reformation Bowl conflict and explaination, I am on all accounts as Lutheran as most Cobbers, but am Notre Dame Gold and Blue through and through as you may well see... my best friend in HS was a big time ND guy and had three brothers that are Domers and he now is a senior in Collegeville as I am at Concordia, I had no other choice than to "cheer cheer for old Notre Dame" when youre best friends with TK haha.  Reformation Bowl WILL be the MUST SEE game of the season in the MIAC.. and mark my words, the Irish eyes will NOT be  :'( this season.  At any rate, Go Cobbs

The release states it as being signed to the "practice roster"  I would assume that Hoag is a bit above playing on the practice squad.  He seems to be improving every year, with a touchdown to show for his progress in the pre-season this year.

--------Is it wrong that I would think of going to see a Carleton vs. Macalester matchup Saturday night?  Battle of unbeaten teams with high-powered offenses that put up 50, and defenses that served up shutouts the last time out.

Like a lot of you I have an e-mail filter in place to stop all the crap coming to my in box.

One of the first things I do every morning is check the inventory there because sometimes an e-mail I need gets trapped by the filter.

So, along the lines of daily positive affirmation, I look at a couple dozen junk e-mail subjects that basically run along these lines:

1) Penis enlargement
2) Don't go any balder!
3) You don't have to be obese any longer!
4) Your loan application has been approved.

I really appreciate these fine companies looking out for my best interests.  :P

TC, I'm sorry for misrepresentin. Someone else used the STJ so I followed suit. You know me, I'm a follower, I don't rock the boat, and I just go with the flow. ;D Speaking of which, I do give the Pios a chance against BW only because from what I read, BW's offense is looking for an identity, and their defense gives up the passing yards. The problem is, from what I saw at the SJU game, Marietta has a lot of issues. Goooooo Pios! & Go SJU!

A truly unusual weekend:
When is the last time a Macalester/Carleton game included 2 undefeated teams (when it wasn't the season opener)?
When was the last time Michigain/ND played eachother and both teams were winless?
