Yes.

Like a lot of you I have an e-mail filter in place to stop all the crap coming to my in box.

One of the first things I do every morning is check the inventory there because sometimes an e-mail I need gets trapped by the filter.

So, along the lines of daily positive affirmation, I look at a couple dozen junk e-mail subjects that basically run along these lines:

1) Penis enlargement
2) Don't go any balder!
3) You don't have to be obese any longer!
4) Your loan application has been approved.

I really appreciate these fine companies looking out for my best interests.  :P

I'm going to have to check my filter.

It's no wonder I'm a poor, fat, bald guy that all the girls call "stubby".   :-[

Hoag signing with Edmonton

Talked with Hoag at the opener and he was trying to decide between this signing or turning it down in hopes of an NFL team calling. He had already told Edmonton no to a multi-year deal, so they lowered the years and upped the money to make it more enticing. However, he's now locked into the deal for the rest of this season and can't opt out if an NFL team needs a speedy WR/special teams guy — which doesn't seem too far fetched, considering he made it to the final cuts with the Redskins.
The release states it as being signed to the "practice roster"  I would assume that Hoag is a bit above playing on the practice squad.  He seems to be improving every year, with a touchdown to show for his progress in the pre-season this year.

--------Is it wrong that I would think of going to see a Carleton vs. Macalester matchup Saturday night?  Battle of unbeaten teams with high-powered offenses that put up 50, and defenses that served up shutouts the last time out.

Been a long time since I've posted, but I have been reading as of late.  In regards to the CAR vs. MAC game, I really hope that MAC has improved as much as it seems (where's OAS with an update?), as I'd like to see a decent game for my first DIII game of the year, however the last 4 games between the two have been pretty one sided with the Knights outscoring the Scots 184 - 34.  Should be another good year in the MIAC this year, and I wish all the teams luck and good health this weekend.

A friend of mine has a nephew playing at Millsaps College and this morning told me about their first game.  Millsaps was up 20-3 at halftime againt Mississippi College when early in the 3rd quarter Coach Dubose (former head coach at Alabama if you remember) took out his starters and played the 2nd and 3rd teamers the rest of the way - even as Mississippi College made a 3 touchdown comeback in the 4th quarter to win 27-26.  This has created a huge row over on the SCAC board that is worth reading (a number of Millsaps followers are defending/rationalizing the coach's decision).  http://www.d3sports.com/post/index.php?topic=4753.2805
According to my friend, the coach told the team he wanted to see everyone play so he could see who was going to make the traveling team.  Whatever the reason, it seems to have cost them a win.  Go figure. :-X

Lone Auggie Backer

TC and all-

I'm still around, just no longer experiencing the freedom of a college-student only lifestyle. I now also work a full-time job as well as finishing my last semester of school (Full time as well!).  Therefore, have not had much time for posting.  I will be attending this Saturday's game with my wife, and have plan on stopping by the Stiftungsfestivities to meet many of you.  I have unfortunately learned who some of our infamous Auggie posters have been in the past - they were current players, sometimes even promoting themselves in their posts.  Thankfully, none of them still have the privelage of wearing the Maroon and Grey, and therefore, no reason to act like fools anymore!  Amaru and the others probably won't be bothering us anymore.

I look forward to a good game this Saturday.  You will be able to read my contribution to www.johnniefootball.com in the next couple of days as the view from the other side.  I really hope that my guys, and many of them former teammates can put in a great performance, have lots of breaks go their way, and pull off an unforseen upset this Saturday, but unfortunately, I'm not going to wager large sums of money on this happening.  I do predict our guys to come out and play hard, and look better than we've looked the last couple of years vs. the Johnnies.  The win last Saturday finally gives our program a confidence boost that hopefully will keep morale up throughout the year.  The Johnnie/Clemens experience is a great one to play in, and all I hope is at the end of the game, everyone who started the game Saturday is ready to start the game the next Saturday.

Someone let me know what time activities start before the game, as I'm now, for the first time, planning on enjoying libations BEFORE a game!  Also, what to bring, etc.

Best of luck to all this Saturday, and stay safe and healthy!

Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Willy Wonka

Since we're talking Carlies...word on the street is junior WR Matt Frank may be out for the season with an injury. He was All-West Region last year and a preseason All-America Second Team pick after finishing second in the nation at 112 ypg in 2006.

If that's true, it's a huge blow to CAR's hopes of moving up the MIAC ladder. But Bethel should be breathing a little easier with his absence :-*
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

RB George Rogers, about the upcoming season:
"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."

Now if we can only find out if there Off. Tackles can still throw the deep ball?  Didn't see that coming last year. :(

Tough break for Matt Frank and the Kinghts if that is the case.  I wish him a speedy recovery.

Good luck to everyone in the MIAC this week (except for the Cobbers, I guess)!!!

The White Silly

Lone-dawg...good to have some more augsburg support up in this piece...i think you're right in confidently calling out the sure upset this weekend....it'll happen...a great call...sorry i can't make the stifftungsivitees this weekend as i'll be going bald eagle hunting in Canada...the Johnnie offense is gonna feel like there in a tecmo bowl game this weekend where the Auggie D keeps picking there play...straight everybody blitz sacks all day...our aforementioned unseen trick plays should at least give 2 scores and add 2 safety's or so to that i'm looking at a 18-0 win for the Auggies....p.s. Concordia i've heard rumors that you guys are actually going to play a third quarterback this weekend too?...is that true?...if so you should run a straight wishbone with all quarterbacks...FLYING V!!!!....time to go back to my home on planet Zoltar in the thrid dimension...TO INFINITE AND BEYOND!!!!!!
