Willy Wonka

Wonka received word earlier today that he and his Gustie crew that includes Frank and Mongo will NOT be allowed to join the official UST tailgate tomorrow. Since I hate the Johnnies during football and Tommies during basketball about equally as much, this might make me more inclined to side with SJU in future arguments. Not allowing Wonka free food and revelry is terribly unkind  >:(

To lighten the mood for those waiting for games tomorrow, the following link is pretty redonkulous.

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

LAB--It will be nice meeting you and wife before the game tomorrow.  There'll be an ice cold PBR with your name on it for your contribution to the site earlier this week.  (Private note to Pat Coleman:  that's www.johnniefootball.com in case you hadn't heard.)

Gotta love these stats:
COLLEGEVILLE — St. John's has beaten Augsburg the last nine times the two teams have met and has outscored the Auggies 414-79 over that time span — including a 60-0 victory last season in Minneapolis.

Augsburg has not beaten the Johnnies since a 20-10 win in 1997 and has not won a game in Collegeville since a 21-10 victory in 1980. In all, St. John's holds an overwhelming 59-7-1 edge in the series, dating back to the first meeting in 1926.

from today's Daily planet. What the hell happened in '97?
Fins-
I was at that game in '97, and can tell you that a guy named Scott Hvistendahl beat SJU pretty much singel-handedly that night at Auggie.  I remember him scoring twice on little three yard out routes that he turned into 50+ yard touchdowns against a SJU secondary that was one of the stronger parts of that team.  He's without a doubt one of the best players the MIAC has had, and they had some other guys in that team that could play a bit too.  That was an SJU team that went 6-4 as I recall, so not the best you've ever had.

Duffman,

We attended the B-B-E vs. Maple Lake High School game last evening.
The Irish got the better of the Jaguars.
It is always nice to spend time with our friends from Belgrade & El Rosa.
The beer & pizza after the game was excellent too ;D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Wow, the old H.S. won, go Irish... The last time I watched them 2-3 yrs ago they were terrible, so at least they must be on the upswing a little.  Those small little high schools (graduated w/ just about 70 others) really go through peaks and valleys as there's not a lot of kids to choose from so they're pretty dependent on getting lucky with a bunch of good players about the same age.  How did the Irish look this year?  I think I heard that a guy a few years younger than me that I played with in H.S. that went on to break John Kitna's NAIA carreer passing yards record in college is helping coach the team.  I may have to check out a game sometime this year.

CC:
The Irish looked O.K., but the Jags looked TIRED... pretty much  11 guys going both ways.

The running game for this Irish, imagine that, was solid. Riley Decker is also a good TE/SE- FS makes plays both sides of the ball.

One note on the Irish- 3 unsportman like conduct (2 on 1 kid in succession, in 5 seconds-EJECTION) coach has to reel those boys in & tell them to keep their yappers shut after the stripes make a call that they don't agree with.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I just returned from a business conference up near Grand Rapids.  This morning it was snowing outside.  I couldn't believe it!

I know it will be nicer than that tomorrow behind the pine curtain.  Even when the weather is bad it's always a good time on top of the hill behind the scoreboard.

I'll be there bright and early.

Go Johnnies!!

That is always nice to hear about snow down south, still no snow in Fairbanks :) though the temp has dipped into the upper 30's.  Will trade it with you all later.  Best of health to all this weekend.

GO JOHNNIES!!!!!!!!!

Should have kept my mouth shut.  Snow in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow.  I guess a trouncing of Auggie Tech would make me feel better   ;D
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Great game day here in western Colorado. Expect pc and about 75 degrees at Johnnie kickoff time. By now I suspect JJR the Festmeister has the festivities rolling.  ;D
Any reports from the booths in Duckville or the Windy City?

During the West Virginia/Maryland game last night, the announcers said that WV's fullback, Owen Schmitt, played a year at UW RiverFalls before transfering to WV, walking on, and eventually getting the starting spot.  He had a few impressive runs, and it was said that he'd make some pro teams happy.

I still think the only good thing to come out of Wisconsin is beer and cheese.

Wonka--heard that Diercks and wife are coming to UST on saturday.

hey mongolian warrior.....

Owen Schmitt is the real deal, and a nice guy too.  Here in WV, the Charleston Daily Mail did a nice article on Owen a couple of days ago.

Read it here:  http://www.dailymail.com/story/News/2007091356/Fullback-nearly-abandoned-his-quest-in-a-WVU-parking-lot/

My guess is that he's good enough to make the SJU traveling squad!

Johnnie
Johnnie--Thats a good article. I'm kinda shocked that the RiverFalls coach let him go.   He reminded me of a Mike Alstot when I watched him last night.

I was a freshman at RF the same year that Owen was.  Watching him play football was a treat.  He would run over kids twice his size.  He went to RF because his family near there and he liked the idea of playing in the wishbone offense at the time.  (he touched the ball 30+ times a game)  It has been fun watching him the last couple years at west virginia.

Touchdown Tommy

Touchdown T reporting for duty.

It would break my heart today if...

1. Bethel lost
2. St. Thomas lost
3. Linfield lost
Chasing MILFs since '82...

I was thinking of contributing Rocky Mountain Oysters but decided not to because:
1. They are out of season in October
2. Johnnies don't need them
3. I couldn't bring enough to help the Florwegians
4. God help us if TDT ever got ahold of any
