SJUQB,
Arguing against Linfield as the top seed is a case not even Perry Mason (or our esteemed barristers and solicitors here) could win. Even with eight games  they earned it.

Another reason for only eight games this year was Lewis & Clarki dropping their conference schedule this season to ``evaluate'' the status of their program.

As for SJU over WW in seeding, I'm with you, but history doesn't mean all that much cpmpared to the other criteria and as Esq. noted, running the table in the WIAC is a pretty rare feat. I'm some surprised that the chance to put 10,000-plus in the seats at Clemens didn't affect this, but I'm sure that the NCAA was counting on a big red contingent head toward Cheeseland.

I always remember being disappointed with playoff crowd sizes.  It seems like it drops off a lot.  Does anyone have the numbers?  Crowds seem consistantly bigger since 2003, maybe that will carry over.  It gets so darn cold ya know  :P.

Stout ran the WIAC table in '00 and it didn't get them past the 1st round ;D

AJ,
I think I remember something about the NCAA not releasing attendance figures for play-off games.

Duff,
We have to get past Monmouth first before we can even think about playing UWW!

Monmouth ran the MWC table this year...

That hasn't happened since:

2004 when SNC was undefeated in the conference... and lost in the first round
2003 when SNC was undefeated in the conference... and got monkey stomped by SJU 38-13 in the 2nd round.
2000 when SNC was undefeated in the conference... and lost to Central in the first round
1999 when SNC was undefeated in the conference... and lost to Augustana in the first round

FYI.  SNC lost in the first round in 2001 and 2002.

Anyone see a Pattern here?

I believe playoff attendance has been closer to 3500 at Clemmens....

Dr. Dirk is back from being cryogentically frozen...and sending this from the American Heart Association meeting in Dallas where it's nice and warm!!!

It's great to be back in Playoff mode and I look forward to seeing you all at Johnny Red's party for REAL football fans. And, even though we deserve the #2 seed, I think that Central has a pretty good chance at upsetting Whitewater, so once we take care of our first round business, we might have a second home playoff game.

I think he is trying to say that Lake Forest lost (45-0) in the first round in 2002.

Kilted Rat

Ok, Lake Forest took the beloved 1st round MWC playoff loss in 2002 in a doublestompout loss to Wartburg 45-0.

Point being, your conference is 1-6 in the playoffs since 1999 despite your playoff rep going undefeated in conference play 4 of those years... that ain't good.
