It's been an education the past few days to watch the history (and other stuff) spill out and see the new folks come onto the board.  Welcome to all. I think JR's Stitftungestivities have a lot to do with it - and continued +k on that.

The only MIAC folks I knew before coming here are GAC grads.  Good people, though I'm not sure how much they put up for the new field.  I did urge them on, however.  Neither knows WW.

It will all play out this year.  Wish #2 were on the field.

Go, J's!

Agreed--if it's a wet track, like expected, or he's not all the way healthy, I can't see him getting much action.  Patnode's more than good enough to carry the load against the Knights and it would be nice to see what Jeff Schnobrich and Kellen Blaser can do with some more carries.

It's pretty obvious that SJU's ceiling is almost always higher than every other team in the league. This year is no different, probably. The next few weeks should be telling.

SJU92 - I'll be there for the Homecoming game. However, the last time SJU played down there I believe The Godfather, Duffy and a few other SJU people just joined Mongo, FRank and myself at Pattys for pregame. If we do this again, please leave that annoying old lackey at home this time, JR — I know you feel me, Duffy.

The campus security isn't exactly keen about tailgating with adult bevies; such events have been held at a local park and a liquor store (which has since changed ownership) in the past. That requires a lot of planning and I'm not sure you could get such permits on a Homecoming weekend.

JR - What are the thoughts on this weekend's Stiffyfest? Frank and I are eager to eat some burgers, though Mongo's woman won't let him out to play for GAC's biggest football game in at least five years...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Survived my trip from Chicago...House of Blues was great!  Saw Pert Near Sandstone and Trampled By Turtles, both from MN..great bluegrass/folk music!

Best Shirt from the hotel on Sunday:  Romo is a Homo and TO Swallows!  Good Humor!

Got my game updates from a buddy: NICE WIN!

Our head coach, an Ole assistant last two years is bringing our entire 9-12 football players to the Johnnie/Ole game. As of now, most are wearing red and white!
Also bet is, if Oles win, I have to wear an UmYAYA shirt to next Johnnie Game, and WHEN SJU wins he has to greet his old coahing buddies wearing a 'gagliardi is my HOmeboy" Tee Shirt!

Wonka, my also be bringing my 16 yr old twin daughters along so I don't think they'd get into the bar. Hope the rent-a-cops allow the Stiffy fest. Haven't had a burger yet this year, hope to get one at Carlton this coming wkend.   Would be kinda sweet if both had a big goose egg in the loss's when we come to town. ;D

Forgot to mention, St. Olaf hasn't won a tiltle since 1979. I don't even remember who was president then... ::)  Just had to throw that out to get the pot stirring started early. ;D

Jimmy Carter, if you really wanted to know ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Or is it the fact that Schoenebeck is just as arrogant as you claim Gagliardi is???

I don't know Gagliardi personally so I won't speculate my own opinions on him, but I can vouch that Schoenebeck is not arrogant in the least and is one of the nicest and most sincere coaches people that I've ever known.

p.s. I also know that Schoenebeck hasn't called or allowed to be called any fake punts/trick plays once a game is already in hand.  I don't know if that equals arrogance in your mind or not.

My point was not that Schoenebeck is arrogant, it's that scores can get out of hand no matter who is coaching.   Wonka has been whining for years that Gagliardi is a jerk when scores get big.  I never had a bad experience with Schoenebeck, so I have nothing against him.

A tradition unrivaled...

Willy Wonka, as previously mentioned, I would be more than willing to host a Stiftungsfestivities at Carleton this Saturday. Gustie fans would be more than welcome. I am wondering where we should have it. I know there is a parking lot on the south end of the football stadium that would probably work. Someone on a previous post mentioned that another location could be behind the fieldhouse, which I think is on the north end of the stadium if my memory is correct. Let me know your thoughts. We would probably get started around 10:00 a.m.

When the Johnnies travel to Gustieland on October 13, we should definitely get together at Patty's before the game. Very nice venue.

Who am I to say this, but there seem to be a large number of pre-hatched chickens being counted around these parts.  Week four seems a bit early to be discussing playoff seeding; better done in weeks 7 & 8, methinks.  I hope the players (and their buddies) keep this sort of talk to a minimum.

That being said, I don't think UWWW will be the team to keep our eye on this year.  I think that Lacrosse and MHB will stand tall.  Particularly Lacrosse.  They seem to be doing an under the radar type thing (despite being #6.  UWWW is sucking all the O2) I would not be surprised to see them do a late season stomp on the WIAC.  If Lacrosse win next week, then all eyes on them.  But if they lose, it could enable a perfect under the radar run.

I remember sitting in the study on a bleak Sunday morning last year listening to BU cut us up like OJ on the Thanksgiving turkey.  I also remember the disappointment in '93 as Mt Union beat us, or we beat ourselves, with the fumbles and ints.  It's still a long way to November.  I'm looking forward to more crisp execution in Carlton this weekend.

What with bennie beating dead horses, BDB decapitating ducks, JJR cooking red meat and everybody getting after TDT, we had better look out for PETA.  :-[

Wise words ... and a solid prediction from your distant perspective.

I've said it before, but after catching some of UWLX vs. Azusa, LaCrosse looks like a top 4-5 team to me. Just a hunch ...UMHB could be as good or better as the team that gave the great Linfield champs all they could handle in the Stagg.

BTW, both the UWLX game and the SJU-UWRF games are still floating around on the Fox sports cable packages this week. It's that's UWRF game that has mew worrying about the anointing of this year's SJU team. But SJU always seems to do a good job of improving throughout the season, so if I'd been able to see the C-M game perhaps I'd be in the chorus.

Not to get off the subject of running up the score(as I was on the team when Coe came to collegeville in a playoff game and went home with a 72-3 loss, but their was really wasn't a 2nd or 3rd team).

Ahem...it was 72-2. They got a flukey safety, no field goals for Coe! ;) I have a friend that played football for Grinnell. That year they battled it out with Coe, but Coe ended up with the playoff spot. He said that he and a bunch of his teammates listened to that game on the radio and decided that they couldn't have done any worse because you can't score more than 72 points in one game. I then had to burst his bubble by telling him that SJU beat Bethel by scoring 77 points two years later. ;D
