SO this talk of "running up scores" is only relevant to when the playoffs were expanded.  In 93 we had to put points on the board because that was a major factor in seeding and there we no automatic bids.

When would you limit these scores to then? 2001's 50-0 drubbing of Hamline? 2002's 56-0 win over Hamline? 2003's 74-7 win over Hamline? Makes a 57-21 win seem harmless, no? :-*

Neither school's web site is updated with a box score for those seasons, but I seem to remember the Piper posters being fired up after a fake punt/FG/XP in the fourth quarter during the latter of those victories. I'm sure Gags was just trying to get his 3rd stringers some experience with trick plays though, so it's all good :-\
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I bet....does it have a red cup holder on it?  ::)or is that just in the boat.

Wonka, it's been going on longer than that. What about '93's 71-10 at St. Olaf, 77-12 at Bethal, and 74-6 at Mac. Kinda hard not to run it up when you only have 45 guy's. I'm sure Larry K. wasn't trying to run up the score on Gag's that year with the 56-8 playoff win. ::)

I think I've posted this for 3 years in a row now.  Wonka always reminds me of the story.

Near the end of the Johnnie / Cobber game on October 15, 1977 the Johnnies were up 24-0, no doubt about the final outcome.  I don't remember the details,  but very near the end of the game the Johnnies scored another touchdown.  With the extra point, it made the final score 31-0.  CC was undefeated coming into the game, SJU had lost first game of the season to a very good UM Morris team.

When Jim Christopherson met up with John at mid field after the game, he asked John why he scored that last touchdown.  Classic Gagliardi response was:  "Why did you score 97 points against Macalaster 3 weeks earlier?"

Real skiing is done on water, with one ski :P

Which is why I do that, too ;D

(Yes, I know I'm ignoring all the running-up-the-score conversations. They've been beaten to death enough. Why contribute?)
Nice day, huh?

As a great coach once said, "YOU PLAY...TO WIN...THE GAME!!!!!"  I see nothing wrong with running up the score...everyone whose whining...just don't...and pull up your skirts...i suggest your team probably go practice some trick plays as well...if you need help, play Super Tecmo Bowl for Nes...they got some dandy flea flickers...bunch of babies

He wasn't, we just shat the bed with TO's...We were good that year, but many of us have talked this out many times over the years that played in that game, and even on turf, we'd of had a tough time with them...

WW- I'mk sure that happened because Gags didn't want his kicker to get hurt!!  ;D ;D
We call that the Poulin Effect from '92

Duff -  No, but a lot were because #72 didn't let DEnds get to the QB on the blind side!

I wouldn't call Herm Edwards a great coach by any means...I don't even think he's an average coach.

I am looking forward to northfield this saturday.  A pregame combined Northfield Stiftungfestivities would be fantastic.

ROR - So Gags considers himself the arbiter of justice then, huh? Seems a rather odd concept, considering he's had beef with nearly everyone in the league over his years. No wonder the old MIAC guy who retired a few years back didn't like him — though that does seem to be the pretty standard reaction from anyone I've met from that era.

Or were you simply trying to reinforce the idea that he's had no shame in running it up for decades now? Makes me wonder how much Gags would have flipped if Kehres would have cocked off in '93.

Which brings me to a classic Schoenebeck line...win with class, lose with more.

Herm was the greatest coach in Jets history!!  I am mildly impressed with GAC's start, but now that they are finished playing Our Beloved Brotherhood of the Infirmed, they will, as WW predicted, end the next 3 weeks at 3-3...then 3-4, 3-5, 3-6  :) At least they are good enough now to be considered a Top Eight team in the conference

Thus using Deductive (or Inductive) Reasoning is why all the GAC faithful have so much class, and all the Johnnie Faithful are member of the Classless A$$hole Club

No, Gags considers ROR the arbiter of justice. 8)

The point was about hypocrisy.

The guys that have a beef with Gags are, for the most part, guys that have had their a$$ kicked on the football field for 40+ years.  Larry Kehres thinks John's a swell guy. ;D

I think the actions of the players, before, during and after the whistle tell much more about the character of a coach than words.  I'll put the Johnnies up there with anyone.

p.s.  That is not a slam on Schoenebeck.  From everything I know he's a class guy.  And his players prove it through their actions.
