My favorite quotes from the article
1. "OK, they're not homo sapiens. But they're obviously also not things—the only other option the law provides."

2. "When you see Hiasl (the Chimp), he really comes across as a person,"
      - I am sure he does sir, except for the pesky little detail of it being a   F'ing Chimp!!

Like I said, I'm bored
What will they want next - Tommies?

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Nice sleuthing on the Top 10 SJU recruiting areas. Except, you forgot the shortest pipeline, Collegeville, i.e. SJP  ;)

Hello MIAC.....Can I get some opinions of Gustavus as a school, football program campus life etc.?

Gustavus is a small, tight-knit community with about 2500 students.  They have built a lot of new buildings since the tornado in 1998 including a student union, at least two dorms, a football field, track, soccer field and major renovations to Old Main and the Econ Building.  The school is probably best known academically for science and the arts.  Gustavus hosts the Nobel Conference each fall bringing in some big time players in whatever field the year is.

The football team has a long storied tradition as one of the best programs in the MIAC.  While we haven't won the conference since 1987, Gustavus is still near the top in Conference championships.  Coach Schoenebeck has been around for close to 15 years now and is an excellent person and head coach.  This season he gave the offensive reins to Coach Brown who has revolutionized the offense and hopefully they can continue the effectiveness.  The new football field is absolutely gorgeous and should definitely help in recruiting.  Gustavus is best known in men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis.

Campus life is pretty much your typical type college life.  They try to have as many students live on campus, but there is plenty of off campus housing in the city of St. Peter.  It is 15 minutes away from Mankato (a city of about 50k) and 45 minutes from the twin cities.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time there from the professors, coaches, local bars and great friends I made there.  Anything else you would like to know, feel free to ask.

What's up, snoop - is Redlands looking for someone to replace the Haskell Indian Nations on their schedule or is your son looking to follow Danny Jones to fame and glory in the upper midwest?

I do know several GAC grads up here in northern CA who say good things about their alma mater.

Hey guys, hate to break up the St. Olaf/Gustavus love-fest, but let's get back to what's really important:  the Johnnies and the weekly ass-whooping that they're about to administer.

Does anyone think the Knights have any chance?  CCKnight does.  Check out his thoughts on the game at www.johnniefootball.com.

It is so nice that you boys always find time for us.   :)  A sincere good luck to the Johnnies tomorrow.

Snoopaloop, you might want to consider doing some research on Augsburg, I think you'd find it to be a nice fit...Gustavus = -K

bennie,
Do you want ZIP or me to hold your reserved seat tomorrow or are you going to the Duck game?  :-\

I am planning to be here with you all! I might be a little late. It depends on how bad traffic is around town here! :D
I get a feeling that if you are going to a Ducks game you would prefer it to be one being played by the team named after Disney's Mighty Ducks starring Wildwing Flashblade.  ;)

Thanks for joining us James.  You are right, neither team can play a lick of Deee-Fense.  Shootout in Northfield!!!
Again. Not James Bechdol. Close to him though. The word baby mean anything to you
