gopherole,
keep in mind that the johnnies on the board would pick the SJU 2nd team in a stomp over Mount's 1's. ;)

Well in 2003...

Ok so I was thinking this morning.  What would MIAC PP have been like if Gustavus had beat Olaf last week?  Better yet, what would the chatter have been had the Carls been able to beat the Johnnies AND GAC beat Olaf?  These Olaf clowns are reminding me more and more of Bethel how they are coming outta the woodwork from all angles yapping.  I'd say more but this bickering/pissing and moaning bores me.  Saturday will take care of itself.  The Big Red Machine knows this.

Gopher Ole,

I have enjoyed your posts only because you finally found a board you can actually talk trash to others since your team (STO) finally has a good team and we all know that the gophers are horrible.  Might actually be one of the worst teams in college football.  I wonder how many gopher faithful on chatting on the BIG 10 board (if one exists).

I never give a prediction before friday but this week I will make an exception.  Prepare for Oct. 20.

Johnnies have no fear.  I spoke with OAS last night.  He is predicting Olaf by several touchdowns.  I believe that should speak volumes.  Go forth and spread the good word!

I'm pretty sure SJU fans are more realistic than thinking our second team could beat Mount-but we are confident that SJU can beat a lower ranked team. I don't see what Olaf has changed that would give them an advantage in this game-they have been undefeated before and as long as Kofoed doesn't hand them the game-looks like the same result.

Over/under of Ole posters next week by day:
Monday: 4 all b*tching about the officiating and everything SJU got away with.
Tuesday: 1 admitting defeat and telling us all to watch out for next year
Weds: 1 who missed Monday here to complain about the refs
Thurs: 0
Friday: 0

Over/under of Rat Excuses next week by day:
Monday:25 bitching about officiating, 20 bitching about the field being slippery, 15 bitching about what Olaf got away with, 10 bitching about Kofoed's poor player, 5 bitching about the field, 1 suggesting that Gags might be done.
Tuesday: 35 bitching about officiating, 30 bitching about the field being slippery, 25 bitching about what Olaf got away with, 20 bitching about Kofoed's poor player, 15 bitching about the field, 1 suggesting that Gags might be done.
Wednesday: 45 bitching about officiating, 40 bitching about the field being slippery, 35 bitching about what Olaf got away with, 30 bitching about Kofoed's poor player, 25 bitching about the field, 1 suggesting that Gags might be done.
Thursday: 76 posts about how it doesn't matter anyway.
Friday: 76 posts about how beating GAC by more than 40 means SJU is better than STO.

I hope the Oles roll and fake a field goal in the 4th to run-up the score.

Wouldn't "b*tching about the field being slippery" fall into the same category a "b*tching about the field"???

No worry about a slippery field, it's on the Sprintturf.

Uh, GopherOle, we've got a turf field, and there are no sprinklers that could be used to water it down :D

;D Field Turf can be slippery when wet. I'm really looking forward to Saturday though. I'm expecting one of the biggest crowds of the D-III football season to be there and hopefully one of the best games.

I also expect to see more posts predicting the Oles demise. Although I think even the Rat Pack isn't expecting to see a stomp.

As a former member of the RatPak, I always expected a stomp regardless of the opponent and especially on Homecoming and even more so against an over-rated opponent. St Olaf is on their way to becoming the Notre Dame of the MIAC (No offense Tmerts, you've had a very rough fall and it doesn't look to be getting much better).

I also always expected to be at least a 6-pack into the day by kick-off. I was very rarely disappointed on either count.

What was it Tim Brewster said before the season started about "Taking this team to the next level" and "Competing for a National Title this year"
I damn near snarfed out a full beer when I heard that for the first time. I didn't know Brewster was allowed to make predictions for the Wrestling and Hockey teams! ;D

And, in the interest of full disclosure, I should probably also mention that I saw the three home games (where Kofoed has looked unbeatable) in person but didn't see either of the road games (where he looked horrible).  If my mind is having trouble rationalizing his performance this year it's likely because of what my eyes have seen.

GopherOle-
Your opening post was quite enjoyable, and when the J's lose, it is quite accurate.  However, I don't see Olaf having enough horsepower to win.  Especially with the johnnies coming off of last weeks carleton game, they will want to make a statement...it might be clse for a quarter or two, but the johnnies will win by 3+ td's.

From a sprinturf site:

5. Drainage.

When it rains, Sprinturf drains. No other competitor's field will drain faster. The Sprinturf all-rubber system removes rain substantially faster, because rubber doesn't absorb water like sand infill, and our fields employ a total-field perimeter and underdrain system - not just a perimeter underdrain, like our competitors.

Hey I'm trying to help you find excuses just in case... but if you want to take them away that's fine with me. I'm thinking this might be the one year though where a fast surface would be better for the Oles than for the Johnnies.
