He was pretty straighforward on what he thought happened to Morneau's swing. He thinks Mauer needs to rely more on his back leg and not be so inside out when he swings.

We just were laughing about the Lambeau 2.0 reference as well.  :D

Heading off to hockey. I'll be checking in on SJU and the Devils via truck radio. It's how I roll...

TC- How have I been irrational? I ALWAYS pick SJU to win and but I don't view them with RED BLINDERS. I realize when a player is not consistent, as opposed to some who live in a fantasy world.

Best of luck today Johnnies, go out and dominate and turn this into a laugher.  TDT, gametime weather here is 23 and snow.

I'm with you Stanbob-no waffling for me-SJU by 17.

Got the pre-game, ready to hear the breakdown for the big game.

stanbob

Thanks, I had just checked and it hadn't been on.  Getting it but pretty broken up right now, hope that is fixed soon.

Stanbob-you might want to try the WBHR site directly-it seems better.

Zip,

I am glad to see the optimism return.  I hope that every Kofoed incompletion today does not come with a call for his execution.... >:( >:(

The inconsistancy that you reference is quite silly.  Alex is only 32-5 in his career (three loses by a total of 5 pts as a freshman) at SJU and will likely have 10+more wins than any other QB in SJU history.....last time I checked wins and national championships are the true barometers of a successful QB.  Alex has the wins thing down, he needs a national championship to complete his career.  Keep in mind that only 4 QBs in SJU history have finished with a ring; Muyres,  Gillham, Norman and Keating.  There have been lots of great QBs that left without; Seiler, Ramler, Linnemann, Dougherty and Mayhew.  I think you would agree that every QB listed was the best we had at that time.  Every QB listed also had their share of games where members of the Johnnie faithful called for either their execution or at least banishment from ever being under center again.....

Not to continue busting your nutz too much but, I am amazed at how you are able to effectively analyze Alex's inconsistancy and shortcomings listening to the radio broadcast.  I know Mark, Brian and Carbo are good....but ;)

Hey, I am just using the numbers, like interceptions inside the opponent's 20 yard line-I don't need to see the game for that. (not sure I'd want to see the open receivers he missed). Also, don't confuse his record with performance, because with SJU's defense, they won a lot of games that could have gone the other way. (Remember Kyle Orton and the Bears two years ago). I would bet that if those guys you mentioned, and I did see Mayhew, Seiler play, played for four years, their stats would be superior to Kofoed's. I believe Mayhew may have been the best passer at SJU.
Maybe I will stop calling him inconsistent, but he needs to bring his game to the next level, week in and week out. If you are named as a pre-season All-American, then you should have a level of play that reflects that. Remeber that he chose to be a QB at SJU and fans are allowed to pick apart his performance-whether other fans like it or not-this isn't youth football. And I'm not sure his performance in the first of half of UWRF and Carleton earn praise. BTW-go back to my posts during the Concordia game-I lavished praise on Kofoed and I hope to do so today.

Great pre-game so far-now let's get this game going.
Jeff-did you call any SJU games on the radio? Is that the "wink" sign? And I do respect your analysis.

stanbob

You are correct sir, enough pregame, lets play some football.

I think it's alright to come out of hiding now after the debauchery in Red Wing last SAturday night.  Hopefully the Gusties can get back on track today before homecoming against the J's next week.
