chadbroch - When a current Ole student with multiple friends on the team tells me the Gant info, I'm more than happy to pass it along.

I'm positive none of the Ole posters will talk about it, so I'm more than happy to be the mouthpiece. Seems like rather fishy circumstances — and Meidt decision-making — eh? Maybe you should do some digging and find out the facts, if you're not going to believe anything I say? :-*

Frank - Were the Gusties THAT bad again yesterday?? Hosting SJU is NOT the way to fix these problems...

Pretty sure I am much closer to these guys than your "friend". If THE HAMMER is who I think he is, he is also an extremely reliable source. You should not be saying things you have no knowledge about, especially when the way you phrase things could potentially harm a young man's life very severely. Grow up.

where were you standing? I'm assuming in the press box. I'm sure you had a much better angle on it than I did right on the sideline where it happened. Cleary accidentle and maybe "touching" is a little light, but "halfway around" is the greater exageration.

Thanks for playing.  Brice owned you.

After reading the Star Trib article, it appears that the MVP of the game yesterday was somebody named "Johnnie Magic."  I don't seem to be able to find him on the roster.  Was that a late substitution?  Does anyone know how many years of elgibility he has left?  It seems that none of the regulars (if you read the Strib article and Meidt's quotes) had anything to do with the victory.   ;)

Bingo.  I wish I still lived in the Twin Cities so I could cancel my subscription again.  Three sentences at the end for Gagliardi to say maybe it wasn't luck but hard work.  Can't stand that tall poppy syndrome (in Oz, someone who is doing well is often called a tall poppy and all the tall poppies in a field must be cut down to size.)

Yeah, that Star Trib article is pretty bad.  You'd think it was an unranked team beating Olaf by reading the article.

Seeing those pictures of the face mask, and not having a dog in this fight, as a former football official thats a 15 yarder.  It has all the points of a personal foul.  The face mask/opening was grasped and it was used in the tackle and the helmut was turned.  I have no idea when it happened or what the out come of the penalty was on the game but as an official you don't take into consideration the time of a penalty just if it was truly a foul or not.

After all the stories the Strib's done on the Johnnies over the years, they deserve a mulligan every once in awhile.

Those are great pics of the facemask, Zapruder filmesque.

What I find most amusing about this whole face mask thing is that the STO supporters are building it up to be some all-decisive point of unfairness.  If they can just get a concession on this one point then it will be clear that it was all unfair and STO should have really won and that space aliens do exist...  If we just can ignore all the other ways we played poorly, and made mistakes, and cost ourselves the chance to win....  Maybe we can just blame anyone but ourselves...

The point you should be reconciling with is that YOU LOST.  And you have to play again NEXT WEEK.  And you have to play your best every week to make and do well in the PLAYOFFS, which is what everyone here wants to see - MIAC teams doing well in the post season.

Give up the Grievance Mystery Theater routine.

Maybe YOU should do your own digging if you're going to play reporter. Leave that kind of trash off of this site.
I'm guessing (given that this is Post No. 1) that this is the unintentional zing of the year ...

On another note, here is what I saw of the facemask.  Of course, everyone can draw their own conclusion...

How the heck did Koefed turn his head like that with #95 trying to push so hard the other way? ???

I said it before, and I'll say it again.  The facemask penalty didn't cost the Oles the game.  It was just a disappointing ending to a great game.

The pics speak for themselves.  and Olefan, even bringing up the possibility of doctored pics is ludicrous.  I think that everything that needs to be said about the penalty has been said.  It's cobber week now, and I'm picking the Oles in this game.  By a lot.

Wonka,
why do you insist on personally attacking the Oles?  First you go after Olefan, then Greg St. Remy, and now HG.  Talk about football, and stop being a jackass.

Speaking of great shots, Tony Bottini's stuff over at St. Olaf's site had some good pics (http://www.sartellsabresports.com/St._Olaf_Football_2007/Oles_Photo_Albums/Oles_Photo_Albums.html).

I'm especially a fan of shots 70 (in which I can kinda be seen in the very upper right hand cornet) through 73 (the highlight most obviously being the Iowa State fan).

And as always, ROR does great work, too.

After careful review of the doctered and original photographs, the ruling on the field stands, he grabbed and pulled the face mask.   :)
