Check out the part that says, "The last team above .500 was the 90-91 team.. "Ritzy happened to be a two-way All-Conference/All-State player on that team!!!

I wonder why the article fails to mention the career record of the 7th grade FB coach in Little Falls (32-4)...TOOT TOOT!! (There goes my on horn!!)

This doesn't make any sense.  You only play 4 conference games a year?  According to their math, 3.33333 conference losses a year isn't that bad.  Mankato West would take that every year in the Big 9.

All games this year were conference (Bemidji is a pseudo-member of the conference).

My converse was true...In my first 8 games at St. Johns we won as many as I'd won in 3+ years of HS football

Well that just makes this reporting even worse.  You can't use an average like that when it's obvious that you're playing different amounts of conference games over 30 years.  133 conference games over 30 years doesn't work out to many games if you're using a 30 year average.

Shoes-Illinois is similar to Minnesota, in that within your conference you can have 8A and 7A teams, or 7A and 6A, but there is not a lot of difference between the classes. The schools can change classes each year depending on the enrollment numbers, and, more importantly, which teams qualify for the State playoffs-so you could be 8A one year and 7A the next and your enrollment remains the same.

Ha. in Utah they have 93 teams in 5 divisions.  You can win a state football championship in division 1a and only have to be better than 9 teams.

A mere two divisions of 14 and 15 teams in Alaska ... and with impending winter, the season's over. Ended last weekend. Interestingly no teams from the state's two biggest cities made the finals.

Great photo of Fins and Kost....  Great Tom Kost story from 2001....John had members of the 1976 National Championship team (25th Anniversary) come to a pre-season practice and talk to the team.  After the talk, John decides to show how well coached the 76 team was and proceeds to have the defense line up in their spots against our 1st Offense.  He wanted to show that the guys from 76 still could play our defense.....keep in mind none of them had pads on.  The 1s attempt to run some play out past Kost and our tackle (nameless) gets his a$$ kicked by Kost wanting to make the play and stay on John's good side

I hope that was BV.    I don't remember the play.

Thanks old rat. Never would take it personally. Well maybe the UofA comment.  Thank god he never made it down there. He did have a lot of fun with the ASU girls last year.

So are you saying your son was at ASU last year - or was he at UST but didn't play?  Which is another way of asking if he's gone through MN winter yet.

UST's kicker the last two years was from the Bay Area - my son played against him for a couple of years in high school - but two years at UST and/or in MN was apparently all he could take and he bailed.  Too bad for UST, he was pretty good.
