Regarding STO's chances,  if Warburg loses and has two loses, are they better than STO? If the west coast takes two teams for travel, leaving 6 in the midwest, assuming the West has 8 teams that qualify, if the conference leaders win out, you have two slots to fill with 4 two loss teams, STO, Bethel, Wartburg and Eau Claire.

The NCAA loves the WIAC almost as much as the WIAC loves the WIAC. If it comes down to those four teams for two spots, I would assume EC gets one of them. I can't see STO getting in ahead of a Bethel team that smoked 'em in Northfield.
Nice day, huh?

I am a little confused as to how Wartburg, a team which lost on week five at home could be ranked ahead of BU who lost in week one on the road, to teams of similar placement within the conference?  How STO could get in the playoffs is beyond me, and how a west region team or teams would not get pool c bids is also puzzling.  I don't think the NWC is as good this season with Wilammete falling to Gustavus and playing a key role in the NWC outcome and the WIAC is a crap shoot with each team beating one another down.

Referring back to LAB's comments on the OLAF blow out, what is with sports talk determining when enough is enough.  Granted the OLAF case was a little extrodinare and overdone, I'm sick of the Patriots talk.  As much as I don't like Spurrier, I agree with this statement "You coach your team, I'll coach mine."

Fellas there is no guarantee that 8 teams would be selected from the West if there aren't 8 deserving squads.  It isn't unprecedented to send a team from the North who fits geographically into the West Region bracket.  There is No way that Bethel gets in with a horrible loss to Buena Vista and a loss to St. John's.

Also, I believe that if Wartburg beats Central this weekend they would take the AQ from the IIAC leaving Central with a presumed Pool C at 9-1.

Remember I don't care what the criteria say or what the Selection Committee would say on the record, they know and VIVIDLY remember what an annual cupcake Bethel has been in the playoffs.  No playoff wins and multiple opportunities in recent years just can't help them in my mind if all things were equal at decision making time...

That's the 800lb Gorilla in the room. If and when BU gets left out because of this, there's no way STO gets in having lost handily to BU.

TDT-I understand your post, but I can't find a North region team that is within the travel limits that won't also have two losses? Are they going to take 7-2 North Central and have them play UWW? This will be interesting if the top teams win out.
Shoes-this is the NCAA we are talking about-sometimes things don't make sense.

Zip,

Could they move Concordia (Wis.) from the IBC? I dunno.

I guess they have an AQ, and played North Central last year. I thought about them, have they ever been but in the West. One year they played LAX, but that was a North region game.

For my 500th post, I'd like to share an actual e-mail exchange that took place earlier today between me and a co-worker (who happened to drop out of Bethel after a year and a half because they didn't see eye-to-eye on, um... "social" issues, to put it politely):

Me:  You all fired up for the Bethel/St. John's game this weekend?  It's for the championship!
Her:  Ummm go Johnies [sic]?  We all know God is on Bethel's side anyway.
Me:  God may be on the Bethel's side, but we have John Gagliardi.
Her:  Is that the guy that has sex with teenagers?

Ladies and gentlemen, Bethel College!

BETHEL IS BAD!!!  GO JOHNNIES!!!

They've got the AQ -- and two bad NC losses plus a big conference loss.

Last year,  they got stomped in Round 1 in North.

Alright, alright, alright.  I am alive and well.  Survived the birthday weekend that involved many cans of Hamm's Golden Draft in all of it's wondrous glory.  I'll have to break "the shirt" out of the closet this week so it is ready to go for Saturday.

Quick question for some of the Vets...

Does St. Olaf have an outside chance of getting a bid to the Tourney??
Two chances actually. Slim and none.

BTW, the Ole president has this amazingly sickening link on the school website, about
what he's listening to on his IPod.
Perhaps he's got amazing eclectic tastes or maybe he's just filling up the mushy middle to pander to all types, i.e., the Miles Davis/bluegrass/Kinks folks.

Perhaps he ought to
download this.
