So yesterday I was driving on 169 and I was behind a SUV that had a Macalester window cling and a St. Olaf window cling...I thought about running them off the road, but thought they had probably suffered enough already.

Oz-
Have you not been warned about meeting people you met over the internet face-to-face?
But go ahead. After all you have two kidneys and you really only need one.
Your wife sounds like an astute woman. And no, "stranger" is not too strong.

These observations from the man who arranged to meet us - over the internet - when we visited for Fly In Weekend ...  ;)

Heck, I even offered Oz dinner at home with some Fat Tires or other favorite brew thrown in (fava beans were not mentioned :o) ... now wonder he wants it to be in a brightly lit restaurant within 100 feet of a police station.  I suppose the chef's table at One Market is out of the question as well ...  :-[

Hmm ... OAS hasn't even shared these with his editor, and I don't even know who he talked to.  :-\

I know we were planning to write about a particular adverse week a particular MIAC school had, talking about both the good and the bad, but the school refused to even comment about the bad, so we're not writing the story. We're not trying to write puff pieces. But that school isn't related to STO/CAR ...

If I'm following your hints properly...off-field adversity is quite a bit different than directly-related-to-a-game adversity.

My turn to keep my mouf shut until I have something useful to post.

Chewey: Make it a priority to bring Brice and join the Stiftungsfestivities on Saturday morning at Thumper U.  Dusty has indicated to me that you fellas would be "Guests of Honor" with VIP seating and bottomless cold bevies.

Speaking of Red Hot Bennie: I wonder if the "Domanatrix" will be making the trek from Medina to Arden Hills.  My sources tell me she doesn't do weather below 40 degrees especially when a certain Dirty Deuce no longer performs magic tricks on the gridiron.

Veek: Can you pick me up Saturday morning on your way down Highway 10?

TDT:  Brice and I will be there early so we should be able to participate, especially if there's free beer.  Hopefully, we'll be able to beat Brothel.  It will be interesting to see the gyro jump again.  It won't be so interesting with all of the coats on this time of year though.

I understand Bethel had a pep rally yesterday ...

How 'bout some classic BU/SJU memories?  A few of mine:

2001.  BU comes into Clemens thinking they're cock-of-the-walk.  After a thorough half of getting beat like red-headed step-children, the way they were hanging their heads walking into the locker room was priceless.

2002.  I wrenched my ankle pretty darn good on the wonderful astroturf at the 'dome.  After the game, Mike Johnson comes over to congratulate me on a kick return or punt return, mistakenly thinking I was Blake Elliot.

2002.  I was crutching my way through the innards of the 'dome after the game when I run across Steve Johnson, who says, "I hope my boys didn't do that to you."  Ummm, no, I injured myself.   ::)

2005.  Enjoying the game with a delightfully intoxicated Kilted Rat and his wife. :D

Wasn't it 2001 when the Bethel running back forgot the ball when diving into the end zone, allowing the Johnnie d-back to pick it up and run 99 yards to protect the 30-something to nil victory?

One of my favorite Johnnie moments of all time.

That was the one. My friends and I were standing in our customary spot on the track at the southwest 10 yard line so we couldn't see the sweep, as it took place heading to the northwest corner of the field. Next thing we knew, the crowd and players were going insane and Shafer (looked it up) flew right by us to the end zone. We went, predictably, absolutely bonkers and did a whole bunch of on-field celebrating. After witnessing two painful losses in Arden Hills the years prior, that stompout felt SO good.

Another great story from Bethel week 2001: a certain poster who I won't name, but who everyone knows did this showed up at our rockin' Halloween party that night wearing Mike Johnson's coat and some nicely done blood/bruises. It would have been the costume of the night, but I spotted a bearded man wearing a turban and a bulls-eye wandering around campus (too soon?).

No worries.  I don't think any of us were prepared to wait that long.

To Whom It May Concern: Are there pics of said Halloween costume floating around cyberspace??

Ritz/Veek: Which one of you clowns are picking me up on Saturday morning?  I need transportation to Arden Hills.

My memory of Bethel games while in school at SJU....just beating them, nothing sticks out. The 1993 game was great though-I hope SJU's kicker isn't hurt this week.  ;)

Will someone please step to the plate and pick up TDT on Saturday-what kinda tailgate will you have without the President?

My favorite memories of Bethel games when I was in college were, ah,...um...can't really remember now...
C'mon, give me a break, it was the 70's. 8)
