Zip,

I think our loss yesterday set in motion the move of Whitewater to the North, with Central taking the #1.

I had this same thought. Also, there was a quote somewhere that said the Johnnies were looking good for a 1 seed until they lost, so either they had three 1 seeds from the West or Central was going to be a 2.

That could be the best game of the second round if both win.

BTW: TC thanks for joining us.  Ritzy will address you shortly.  :o :o

You're kidding me, right?  Did you smell that room after Frank was left unattended for 5 minutes?  No f'ing way.

If the party stayed downtown I would have definitely been by, but once it moved to Mayslacks the effort simply outweighed the reward.  I'm willing to put Pella on notice right now, though.  Things could get out of hand there in a couple weeks.

Bethel will beat Concordia.  I think they will fare pretty well in the second round also.  I am not sure I would put money on SJU beating Redlands.  Something tells me that their magic is up for this year.

Karma is based off the SJU faithful.  They have the numbers, and they control the board in terms of karma.  If you want it you do what they want, and I am tired of playing this game.  I sold my soul to the devil playing that game last week, and I am not playing it anymore.  Go Oles!

Thanks for the warning Shouldabeen71.  I have a great deal of respect for you, TDT,  JohnnieRed, and a few others on this board, but I am not going to bow down to the SJU gods anymore.

With all the pissing and moaning from you tonight, I'm worried about your safety.  Are you depressed? ???

You got some big test or something you're worried about?  Get a grip.  Go to bed.  It'll be better in the morning.  Get up early and study.   Also, I can understand the respect for Johnnie Red, but me and TDT too? :o

I haven't even dared look, what is being said over on the wiac board?

Why, you think it's bad?

I think they'd be happy to avoid you, Bethel and Central, not to mention be across the bracket from Mount Union. And be on the same side as UMHB and Wesley.

I don't see how they got jobbed.

Ha!  As long as you have a healthy dose of respect for TDT I'm sure you'll be fine.  Say what you want about other St. John's fans but I'd say that there are some among us (that, um, somehow didn't make your list) who are among the most realistic and reasonable fans on this board.  Notice the difference in St. John's fan traffic to this site following the Johnnies loss to Bethel compared to St. Olaf fans after the Oles lost to the Royals?  It wasn't all because of the selection show today.

You sure don't have to support the Johnnies, but if you're aiming to be a ridiculous charicature of a Johnnie Hater then good luck to you.  Just know that you're going to have some stiff competition from AO.

Go Johnnies!!!  They are fortunate to get a home game and--even though the SCIAC has shown some pluck in recent years--Redlands has to be considered a beatable opponent.

Speaking with TDT Saturday morning, we agreed that the only way Kofoed will secure his spot among the SJU Elite QBs would be to get over the UW-Whitewater hump.  Obviously that has to be amended--I'd say that if this season ends before Alliance we'll look back at the Kofoed Era as one of nice counting stats and a huge pile of unfulfilled potential.

If someone would have told any of us yesterday that the Johnnies' road out of the West would be, at worst, vs. Redlands, at Central, and at Bethel you know we all would have jumped at it.  Now let's hope they can get it done on the field.

There are others on this board that I respect, but I have gotten personal invites to  the festivities and reccomendations to other events either by email or direct posts from TDT and JohnnieRed.  I am sure there are plenty of great Johnnie fans out there.  I have a cousin that played Catholic league football for one in Dallas.

Best of luck to everyone in the playoffs.  There is something about SJU playing too many close games that has me worried about their run, but sometimes a loss does a lot of good for a team.  We will see.

With a good St. Olaf football team done for the year, I guess this allows me to go on my soap box and preach for the bowl games in the Division 1 bowl series.  Every good team (and a few not so good teams) gets a chance to play a somewhat meaningful game at the end of the year.  It is a chance to see matchups that don't generally get played.  It is a lot of fun and a great reward for playing well.  I highly reccomend not just going to a bowl game, but doing the entire bowl experience at some point.  Usually there are events around the bowl that are open to the public.  Last year I met Lee Corso at a lunch for the Armed Forces Bowl.  The Utah and Tulsa players and coaches talked about how much more they enjoyed the bowl games over playoff system.  I have heard the same thing from friends who play at Texas.  I am also of the opinion that every team with an undefeated record deserves to be called National Champion (very painful to say that after watching Hawaii) due to problems with scheduling years in advance, conference alignments, and the bowl alliances.  I think Lloyd Carr even mentioned that it was a bigger deal to win the Big 10 and then win the Rose Bowl against the Pac 10 than win a national championship.  I cannot emphasize enough how much fun bowl games and events are for everyone involved.

GoldandBlueBU

wow, your sanity definitely needs to be questioned after that post Olefan.  Nobody likes that bowl game setup.  Why else would there be such constant discussion about changing D1 to a playoff setup like D3 has.  Last year on the BCS selection show they asked every coach in a quick interview if they would like to see the format changed, and if I remember correctly, every one thought bowl games should be dropped, and a playoff format put in place.  Are you just advocating this for D3 because your Oles are out?

Touchdown T checking in for duty.  I am alive and well.  Saturday was stressful.

Just finished reading about 30 pages.  Much has been said and will be said.  Terrific win for Bethel.  They seem to have a great gameplan each season now.  To be completely honest, I was not impressed by either team.  Both teams were very mediocore and I believe this is in direct relation to the relatively broad parity after the Giant from Alliance.  My belief is everybody else is playing for 2nd place.  That really hurts to say but I can't help but be honest.  I know the happiest guy in MN this morning was raiderguy.  Imagine the possibilities of a semifinal Showdown at the O.K. Corral??

Details/Lack Thereof from the Saturday evening festivities in DownTown MPLS to come.  Let's just say I have pics of Frank Rickard and Ritzy in rare form.  Apologize to the Veekster for the call at 2:50a.m. from Frank Rickard as he picked up my cellphone and went wild.  Same to the Mayor who ANSWERED his phone around 3:30a.m. and Frank R nearly shat himself.  Mayslack's will never be the same fellas.

BTW: TC thanks for joining us.  Ritzy will address you shortly.  :o :o

We all can't be the recipients of d-1 caliber athletes.  Our best shot is to get a bunch of d-2 fallouts.  MUC is right in the heart of FB country.  If one is not going to get much playing time at Penn St., OSU, Youngstown State, they may as well go win a championship at MUC.  I presume MUC is a pretty good school?   Don't they actually have to be smart to go to school there?  Do they have "pin the tail on the donkey" majors there for the FB players?  I guess I'm going Mac and Carleton on MUC.  I know that's what the Mac and Carleton people say about SJU.  MUC gets way better athletes across the board.  With the evisceration of D-2 by the NC00 and with people not really wanting to play for the remaining d-2 teams, perhaps we'll get some more athletes.  I can imagine that a lot of good kids are not going to be able to pay a lot at the d-1AA level.   I can't imagine a lot of kids would want to play for what's left of d-2.

By the way, has Gags talked Mike Grant into letting his kid go to SJU?????

TDT, please send some of that Florida weather this way--dipping into the minuses for the first time now.

Gentlemen.  Just like to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming of Johnnie and Royal talk to tell you that after spending years of reading message after message (or opinion after opinion) on the MIAC Forum, I finally caved in.  Glad to be on board.

But which team do you back?

Jeez, I don't say this every day, but I agree and think that TDT is right.  -k for being on the ball.
