I know.  But by extension, what is the difference if it goes out of bounds or if BU recovers it?  Then, what if SJU just falls on it?  Seems to me they all are the same situation. So I think this controls.

But even then, they screwed up since the ball should have been on the 12 by that ruling...unless I am missing something else here.
This should tie up the remaining loose ends.

Spot Where Kick Ends
ARTICLE 9. A scrimmage kick that crosses the neutral zone ends at the spot
where possession is gained or regained or the ball is declared dead by rule.
Exceptions:
1. When a kick ends in Team B's end zone, the postscrimmage kick spot
is Team B's 20-yard line.
2. On an unsuccessful field goal attempt that has crossed the neutral
zone and is untouched by Team B after crossing the neutral zone and
declared dead beyond the neutral zone, the postscrimmage kick spot
is the previous spot. If the previous spot is between Team B's 20-yard
line and the goal line, and the unsuccessful field goal attempt that has
crossed the neutral zone and is untouched by Team B after crossing
the neutral zone, and is declared dead beyond the neutral zone, the
spot where the kick ends is the 20-yard line
(A.R. 10-2-2-XXV).
3. When Rule 6-3-11 is in effect, the postscrimmage kick spot is the
20-yard line.

Keeping in mind that the neutral zone on a kick extends past the line of scrimmage (3 yards past I beleive) and also the play can be determined to be dead before there is any touch or possesion.

That's kind of what I was alluding to, but was too lazy to look it up myself.

In any event it was a moot issue:  we went three and out on the ensuing possession, and, combined with 27 yard punt, gave the ball back in great field position.

Finally...a voice of sanity! :) I wasn't sure if they got the call right or not, but this sounds like they did...and most importantly, it became moot by the 3 & out

Awards--- will be announced 11/19 or 20. I'd be shocked if anyone but Wetzell gets MVP. Stam could go to Gunderson, Davis or Ryberg...possibly a Cobber, but not likely. I'm leaning towards Gunderson, altho the league has a tendencyto go with Srs, which helps Davis' chances considerably

COY--- Johnson, unanimous

12/1-- All-MIC West Final @ Bethel. the winner scares MUC (by showing up)
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Ole fan...

how about this...instead of the NFL playoffs lets have Green Bay and NE meet in a bowl in Tempe and Indy and Dallas square off in Miami...

The bowls could still be held for those teams that don't make an 8 or 16 team playoff, it would be like the NIT for those who don't make the dance.  The point is no matter how much "fun" is had at these events, they need to decide on the field who is the best team, not through every Tom, Dick and Harry voting on who is number one, so far things have worked, but what I am hoping for is for Oregon, LSU and Oklahoma to all have one loss or Missouri instead of Oklahoma and I can't forget about West Virginia, then do you know what you have?  A poor system and many people pissed off.

Figures someone who has never tasted the thrill of the playoffs with their team would want another game which is just an exhibition, rather than the thrill of the opportunity to win it all.

Olette fan knowing that you are fighting the losing battle, you know don't you?, I grew up in the 70's and the popular belief then was that their should be a true national champion.  And as far as celebrities go, I would much rather meet and have a beer with Pat Coleman than Lee Corso anyday.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

VOJ that was funny...on a side note, I find myself becoming really angry on the inside that I won't get to cheer the Goph's on in the Sun Bowl/Music City Bowl this year...I feel unsettled about that...serious question, i like that i have to preface everything I say with "no seriously though" now...where is Olivet from and are they any good?...runonsentenceout

I'll third Granite City.  The garlic mashed potatoes pretty much kick ass, and the Broad Axe Stout is definitely the beer of choice--but don't let that stop you from trying them all.

I wouldn't call it upscale, but it is good.  I prefer the Brother Benedict (Lager?), but they're all good beers.
Upscale in a Stearns County, Sports Bar, Micro-Brewery kinda way ;)

I like the Northern Light, but I'm getting old and have to watch the waist line :D

RedlandsFan, have them get you a sampler pack so you can taste all before making your decision.

If you do stay at the Holiday Inn or Fairfield, you are right across the street. Don't walk against the light on Hwy 23 or Hwy 15 or you'll get hit by a drunk driver :o

Tmert-you going to be at SJU this weekend? And this is the weekend for the double win, unlike last weekend.

I hate to miss any of the games, but I'm not sure if we're gonna be out again this year - maybe if we host a regional final.  Anyway, I'm gonna have to let the folks from the south handle representing the state this week.  Gotta save up for next season when #2 is healthy again.

Feeble excuse. And you give me crap for hunting?

To use one of the expressions from my Navy days, if you'll buy, I'll fly! ;)

By the way to clear up the blocked FG...it was Jerry Haugen who was making the argument about where the ball should be placed...not John, so all you Bethel fans who think that John intimidated the officials or used some jedi mind-trick can just move on...

Wait a sec - how can he keep all those football rules in his head together with all those baseball rules?  Won't he mix them up?  That's a lot of rules! :-\

I will be making the trip to St. Johns...any good places to eat out there?  I heard nobody tailgates like the Johnnies...but what about Friday night?  Where should I go?

Thanks

Where will you be staying Friday night?

That's the million-dollar question right there. In the Cities: tons o' places. In St. Cloud: a handful.

Looking forward to hosting you, redlandsfan. Enjoy the trip (up, not back ;)).
redlandsfan:

if you are looking for places to eat...

Granite City Food and Brewery is a St. Cloud original and one of my personal favorites...its a little upscale but offers great micro-brews on tap

Another is Antone's...more of a supper club feel,

If you like Mexican, La Casita has just been re-built and has a great atmosphere in the bar area...

What are you in the mood for?  You are right on with regards to the tailgating, Johnny Red and the boys do it right...and you are welcome to enjoy it as well!!

And if you want to have the "real" St. John's experience, head into St. Joseph for a pizza at Gary's.  Have it delivered to either Sal's or the LaPlayette, where you'll find plenty of your favorite cheap domestic beers on tap.

But if you do stay in St. Cloud Friday evening...

I'll second GC. The brew is fantastic. My personal favorite is the stout, but the red is great as well.

Of course, save room for the tailgate the next morning.

my girlfriend grew up in StC (no jokes, guys ;))

Umm... Wouldn't that make you her brother?

Why has no one mentioned Space Aliens Grill and Bar in St. Cloud?  ???  One of you has to have been to that place ... TC? ;D

Couldn't read all the stuff, but will tell you, Eau Claire will win out that bracket.  That's not just the usual old drunk, me, talking. It's a sure thing. IF, WW has to play EC, I would not bet on the game.

Because I ate there once and didn't like it, despite the fact that it, like me, was born in ND.
Nice day, huh?

If WW ended up playing EC, wouldn't it have to be in the Stagg Bowl?

I just deleted a post that would have gotten me and TDT kicked off here again. Home spun humor? No, I'm just not very smart, but too honest.

Flash,
I have a feeling that UW-EC could be in Collegeville on Dec. 1st. Like you say a lot of things have to happen first, like winning 1st & 2nd round games but it is possible.

The other possible scenerio is UW-EC & UWW in the Stagg Bowl. A lot of crazy things can happen during a playoff run.

1999 & 2000 the 7 seed in the West went to the Stagg Bowl. PLU won & SJU took Mt. Union to the final seconds 10-7.
