That was a dominant message you left regarding TDT and Auggies--you guys didn't actually make it over there, did you?

TDT...when you come to, log on and see your early Christmas present from the NCAA.
Drink lots of water and extra vitamin B.

Nice to see some of my Linfield stalkers were worried about me.  I noticed that MonroviaCat had some lame barb as well.  Good to see my buddy WC11 dropping a couple gems on the SCIAC board.  I guess the 'Cats have plenty to do this week.  Maybe furniture shopping for a new couch???

Don't be silly -- TDT never holds onto supposed facts, hoping to use them against people.

I have been around Johnnie Football for 3 months.  John has been Johnnie Football for 55 years.  I like our chances on Saturday.

How many consecutive losses have the Johnnies suffered in the last decade?  We have coaches who will rebound and give this 2007 squad a gameplan that will be successful.  I look for crisp offensive play and mistake free special teams.  I am sure our opponent has a great team, we have a great team (9-1) we have John.  We have the Johnnie D.  They have been solid every game.

Good luck to both the Royals and Johnnies, maybe a rematch with 15,000 people watching MIAC football.

If 15K show up to Bethel...only 6 to 8K will see it...Bethel needs to spend some endowment or a major fundraising campaign on the fb facility...its weak.
The J's have to like the draw overall, I know I do, I see a Bethel UWEC matchup in the second round that could go either way and if it goes to the BluGolds, a nice home matchup for the J's in the West Region Finals, IF the J's take care of business...

Another endorsement of the "spotty" treatment SJU fans are awarded.  I mean, c'mon, BU knew there'd be tons of people there... they invested the time to get people there so they could collect their admission but did squat in providing a place to view the game.  Rip-off!   :P

Point taken about the size of Royals Stadium.  The current field was designed and built in the mid 1990's with the first games played there in 1996.  That was 3 MIAC titles and 4 wins against "that team from Collegeville" ago :D.  The level of success and the size of the BU football following have both seen tremendous growth in the last ten years.  During that period of time, the Athletic Department's focus has been Hargis Park (Baseball) and the Ona Orth (soccer/softball) complex across the street to the west.  Bethel is also committing alot of $ to many other building projects around the campus, so the out-grown football stadium may be down the list of priorities a little ways.

Having said all that, it wouldn't surprise me at all if there are preliminary plans to expand the stand on the Away side.  There's plenty of room there, and a permanent stand behind the West end wouldn't be tough to pull off.  The east end would be another matter with all the dirt that would have to be brought in to put a stand down there.  Given the success the football team has had over the last two seasons, I would think that a request for stadium expansion funds would be well received.  I know I'd get the checkbook out for that, and an extended run in the playoffs would only help the cause and highlight the need for more seats.  The problem is that the current set-up is only made obviously under-sized when SJU comes to town, so some folks may not see the need for it.

BTW, did anyone else notice that College Gameday was at a D3 school in Massachusets this past weekend?  I would think that they'd be up for making a visit to Collegeville before Mr. Gagliardi retires.  That would be fun to see, agreed?

Ah hell, it would just mean Tom Stock would have to add another 2,500 seats.   :-\

Carl- Does Coach Johnson / the program stay in contact with former players? I would think a nice letter asking for a donation to be designated for the stadium improvement should easily get $100K from former players alone. Take that "base" amount and then find 5-10 deep pocket boosters & you have the improvements that you need.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Here is my suggestion for how Bethel and the other MIAC schools should deal with the Johnnie crowds.  Instead of adding more permanent seats on the visitor's side, ring the open areas of the field with a berm, much the way Gustavus has.  A nice gentle slop about 6-8 ft high should do.  Flatten out the top just enough so you can get a full row of lawn chairs and another few feet of standing room.  On the back side you can do a bit of a terrace or just a complimentary slope, but plant some flowers and other shrubs.  Pave a walking path to follow the backside that leads in and out of the stadium.  Here's what you end up with:  A lot of extra places for overflow ground seating, a more pleasant view from the home stands and a nice area for walking and checking out the greenery before the game and for people who exercise on campus.  All in all this type of addition makes the stadium more attractive, functional and multi-purpose.  You end up creating a "mini-bowl".
