OzJohnnie

Well, what I'm hoping for next year is that the team, no matter how talented or not, plays their best game every week.

What has been a shame the last few years is that the Johnnies have played poorly and with an odd lack of cohesion in some games, but since the program is consistently so good that was often enough to win.  I don't mind listening to a loss so much as I dislike listening to poor execution and lackluster play.  This year's loss to Central was primarily frustrating because the best Johnnies didn't show, much like WW two years ago.  Last year's loss to WW was a bummer, but I was proud to listen as the Johnnie squad did their best and came up short - no dishonor in that.

So, here's to each man standing up next year and saying, "Together we will play as the best team possible each week."  And we know how far a team can go that brings it's best play to the field each week.

Go Johnnies!

Good Lord, what should I do this next Saturday? :-[

Johnnie Red...let me offer my condolences. I've asked the same question in post season for 2 years now so consider yourself lucky.   :)

I dont understand what happened in Pella last weekend, but I know how it goes.  I was at Buena Vista week one and know how you feel.

You cant compare losing to BVU and what happend in Pella on Saturday at all. No disrespect to SJU whatsoever but honestly...its not like they didnt show up at all. They had the ball near or inside the 50 3 or 4 times and the Dutch stopped them. Worst defeat since 1993...its not luck, we are for real. I expect a hell of a slug fest Saturday, it always was when I played against Bethel.

You gotta love those SJU announcers...they are all heart.

Criswyly...what do you mean by that?

Stomped.  That really sucks.

Man, it's been a rough week. First, Mr. Whipple dies. Now this.  :'(

OZ - Thanks for that informative response. I particularly like the line about what you get no matter who you vote for. I guess it's the same here and all over. I heard there were about 550 in Iraq.

This board is definitely getting an in-game updates board next year.

Pat...what happened to the normal in game chatter from the J's fans?  Usually there is a great deal of banter...but nothing which is not normal

Thanks...

Have you not realized this philosophy applies to you and me?

QuoteAllPosters, common wisdom on this board is to not respond to AnyOneWhoWeDon'tWantToEngage but to talk around him.

If you read the rest of the posts you'll see I created a separate board and moved the posts into it.

Thanks Pat...

Not sure I really want to know what was said, it was a tough loss. nothing went right as I am sure you fathomed from the game...Central is very good and Jimmy Gagliardi said it best on the post game show...we were outplayed and outcoached.

Have fun covering the rest of the DIII playoffs, and seeing if anyone can beat the machine that is Mount Union...

Veek

I haven't had time yet to read all of the posts from the last few days but congrats to Central for a well played game and big win on Saturday.  They were clicking on all cylinders and the J's obviously were not.  I left the game feeling that the stats would obviously be closer than the score, and indeed they were, but when a big play was needed Central stepped up their game and came through time after time with critical plays when they needed them.

To all of the SJU seniors, thanks for another great season.

Thanks, JR, for another great year of tailgating.  It gets bigger and better every year and I'm happy to be a part of it.

ROR - did you or Ryan misplace a black glove?  I found one in the back of my truck and I was going to list it on Ebay but I thought I should first ask you.

TDT - even though you can't party with the likes of myself, OAS, or ROR Jr, it was still a pleasure making the trek with you this weekend.  Visions of you and Veek Sr spooning will forever be in my mind.

Go Johnnies!!!

Mr.Shoes

So I'm back from NoDak and don't really know what to say. I listened to most of the game over dialup (every time I tried to load a page here, the game would cut out, so that's why no posting) and when it went to 27-0 it hurt too bad to continue. I trekked it to UWW the past two years, to Trinity in '02, and to MUC in '01 and in every case, I stood in the visitors' section and cheered the team as we went down in defeat. Not being able to be there to cheer the seniors and all the hard workers in [Johnnie] red and white was absolutely brutal and I couldn't listen to the end of the game.

Congrats to the Dutch on the big win. From the sounds of it, we didn't really show up and you didn't let us get away with it—at all. It's unfortunate that the game was as one-sided as it was. I was eager for a nail-biter to see if your close-game skillz could win out over "Johnnie Magic". Blech. What a mess it ended up being.

On to next week...I guess I have to figure out how to set up JohnnieFootball.com to handle the off-season. That was one switchover that I was hoping to put off a while longer. Crap.

As for the Bethel-Central tilt...I'm leaning red right now but will listen to arguments otherwise. I mean no offense to the BU supporters, but I just can't cheer you. Our rivalry is too raw and irritating for me. I don't remember the "old days" when BC was the SJU whipping boy. We lost to you the first time I ever saw you ('99) and the dislike hasn't gone away since. It's great to see a MIAC team winning in the post-season, but because it is BU, it's bittersweet at best. Sorry. Look at it this way: I'm sure as hell not going to cheer the Packers on the rest of this season, no matter how inept the Vikes are. Ditto Ohio State if they make the BCS Championship (my mom's from Michigan and my uncles made me a Wolverine fan). That's just how I'm feeling about that tilt.
Nice day, huh?

Have some MIAC pride, Johnniefans...Bethel has a tough game coming up this Saturday and the biggest test of em all if they win that one.   You probably didn't need the rest of the MIAC behind you when you went up against Mount in '03, but you sure seem to have forgotten that they were backing you anyways.
