It is amazing how easy it is to hide behind our computers and throw dirt back and forth when we're not face-to-face - I know I'm guilty of this - but where does that get anyone?  Does it make us feel good to degrade someone or someone's alma mater? And even if in the short-term it does feel good, does it accomplish anything?  It's one thing to disagree, even vehemently, on a subject or an opinion, but it's amazing how ugly this board can get.

Not purporting to be without guilt here, but sometimes reading the tangents on this board can be very depressing.

This board is very tame compared to some boards that I have read....even ones with just fans from one school.

I think I have finally been able to determine what the Bethel types like thefreebird want; simple acknowledgment for a job well done........

NOBODY who has ANY say in the outcome of ANY game, be it Bethel, SJU, or any other school, has ever or will ever seek acknowledgment from you, me or anyone else on this board.

Then why the continuous demands that Johnnies recognize BU's success?  Redtooth just did that (again), in incredibly infantile terms so that no one could mis-understand, and yet both you and other schools (D1HawkWhatever) apparently still do.

Bethel had the better season.  Woohoo!  But you still suck because you prove my point below.  Bethel's success is determined in relation to SJU's performance, not by Bethel's performance alone.

Give it up.  We will never support you.  We will never grant you the respect you crave from us.  You'll have to stand on your own two feet, or the best you will get is more pats on the back for using the potty.

Second - respect is COMmanded by winning the conference on the Football field, not DEmanded in cyberspace (beating the Johnnies is always awesome too, but the primary goal is to win the conference).

Third - when respect is due, it is due the players and coaches, not someone in a chat room.

Give it up.  We will never support you.

More unrelated news to the bethel, SJU, Central struggle on the board.  Looks like the twins are going to deal Santana to either the Red Sox, Yankees or Angels.  Also, trade rumors of garza and rincon to d-rays for delmon young to replace torii hunter.

Delmon young hit .289, 22 bombs and 98 ribs this season.  His high point in career came a couple of years ago when he threw a bat at an ump and receive a stiff suspension!  Way to Go Twins!

Good luck selling tickets!....I will still go though and i don't know why!

To all Bethel Backers: Is there no fan bus to Pella this weekend? I was just looking at your brand new website, it's no www.JohnnieFootball.com, but it's nice.

Anywho, I don't see any information about a fan bus going to Pella http://athletics.bethel.edu/index.asp?path=football  am I missing something?

Yeah, theres a fan bus leaving at 6am on saturday, they just advertised it using a community wide email.
About the twins, its nice to see them making some moves finally, I hope it works out for them because like cobbernation I'm sure I will still find myself at plenty of games next year.

I missed you statement/question a couple days ago on the topic of SJU winning 8 West Region Championships in the last 18 years...  No question getting that far 8 times and winning one championship could have created frustration....when you get that far you realize the amount of things you need to go your way to win it all.  This is why we all should recognize the tremendous accomplishments that Mount Union continues to add to.  I will say that I look with great pride on the fact that 5 of the 7 loses came against the eventual National Champion in either the semis or the Stagg.....3 of those to Mount Union.

I notice you dropped the "or any other school" from your demand.  I take it you concede that point?

I also notice you qualify out any potential quotes from BU posters that do demand recognition as being irrelevant to the performance of the BU program.  Apparently only active members of the current program count.  Convenient.  Many of them on this board?  I take it you concede there have been such requests here from BU supporters, but not active players or coaches?

I notice the wording of your first post in this chain makes the same point, pretty much dismissing any BU supporters opinion if that supporter is not a currently active member of the program.  Interesting way to clear the decks of statements that you don't like.

Good point.  Continued success with a bit less crotch grabbing may accomplish respect both on the field and here.  Good luck with that.
