As KR alluded to, one of the reasons good, smart capable people go into a profession is not only what they get out of it in a cosmic sense, but also, when you put many years into becoming a doctor, spending a lot of money to attend schools to do so, you also have to look at the financial reward. If that diminishes, the best of the best will opt for some other profession, and we may be left with the lesser skilled people as physicians. Please think about the consequences of policies, not just a superficial, feeling good for the moment, type of thought. That goes for all things.

We can't rely on government to to solve it all, but whatever party wins in November, it's got to be a player in recognizing the problem and leading this nation with too many lard-a--es (another problem) towards change.

All in all, I'd rather see that $124 million annual bonus going to KR than the some insurance company CEO ... on that I hope we can all agree. END OF RANT.

Excellent points brought up by many. There is not ONE answer that will fix all of these types of problems.

Going back to my childhood on a farm in central Minnesota, the farm my parents still live on but now get PAID MORE MONEY for NOT GROWING a crop because the government pays them to take their land "out of production" for 10 years. Can you blame them? By the time their contract expires they can sell the land and they will either be dead or ready for the Sr. Citizen apartments- (assisted living) in town. The real pickle is for guys I grew up with who are now in this same situation. What do they do, they want to farm the land, it's what they do, but financially they can't afford not to take the goverment check. It's just a sad situation.

As the saying goes - 'If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it's free'.

We've got free health care in Australia.  I pay 48.7% tax as well.  And 10% VAT.  And 15% Super (IRA tax).  And 1.2% FID (bank depositing tax).  And my employer pays roughly 9% payroll tax.  Last big one is the almost blanket 12% import duties.

But we have free health "care".

No, I think it's enemies that the J's have made over the years in the post season.  It's not like we haven't earned a little smite every now and then, I'm just amazed that some have built up such a store of venom that they are still going strong clear into Feb.
