I personally thought it was chicken$hat for Belichick to throw the challenge flag on the punt-12 men on the field call.  The guy was no where near being involved in the play and was at least partially off the field.  One of my guests, a NE guy, argued, the rules are the rules.  Using that rational, Belichick should not have run onto the field with 1 second left and with one snap yet to be taken and should have not left the field.  Not a big fan of his right now.

Anyone have any info on the newest Belichick cheating allegations stemming from the Rams-Pats Super Bowl?

My buddy and I were p*ssed too about that call. Since when can you challenge the absence of a penalty? If that's the case you should be able to challenge that a defensive player lined up offsides or that a Lineman held on a particular play.

All in all, I thought it was a BS challenge which I've come to expect from Bellicheat.

Regarding the latest allegations, all I know is that they allegedly taped the Rams' final walk-through before the Super Bowl where the Rams worked on primarily red zone plays.

Well, Bock Fest was a thrilling time as always.  The lines seem to get longer and longer each year, but fun was abundant.  For the second year in a row, I bonged a beer through a beer bong made out of an actual deer head ;D

There was a ton of CSB/SJU alums there.  I also saw a couple Tommies.  I may have run my mouth a little bit ;)

A tradition unrivaled...

Geez, ritz - what's up with the Coughlin hate?  I should share it in light of a certain game he won back in 93 when he was at BC, but he was largely irrelevant to my view of this game.

This site is a blog readability test. It tells what education level you need to be able to read it. Johnniefootball.com comes up college, post grad. My website comes up college (not so true) and d3sports comes out genius. Way off there.  http://www.criticsrant.com/bb/reading_level.aspx

Duffman, glad to hear you had a great time at the BockFest. Good thing the weather was decent.

What is with the Coughlin hate?  When I think of that arrogant arse Belicheat the Giants win looks better and better.

I saw a game earlier this season where the same 12 man on the field call was made after a challenge flag was thrown. Can't remember the game, but it was  in the past month or two, so it has precident. Maybe it made up for the non call on Amani Toomer's push off - to the face mask no  less - that wasn't called on the drive that resulted in the Giants field goal, or the possible pass interference that wasn't called on a hit prior to the ball reaching Welker late in the game. No slo-mo replay, but I thought that's what I saw. I thought that the referees were loathe to call any holding on the Giants O Line throughout the game. I saw some pretty egregious instances in my mind. I am glad that, once again the "experts" are made to look foolish. I remember about two short months ago, Eli was crap, and didn't have what it takes. Now, they'll probably be saying that Brady "can't win the big one." They're so clueless.

By the way, I am going to side with Ritz on the Coughlin comment. Belichek is a guy who must feel like I do about sports reporters. They are idiots, and he doesn't suffer fools well. I like that. They are then pissed at him, so they say he's arrogant, as if that's the worst thing you can say about someone. They don't like him because he treats them as the fools they are, so they try to portray him in the worst light. It's the same as in other "news" you read in most publications.

I was glad the refs swallowed their whistles for the most part.  This was a throwback game to the 70's.  I just don't think you should be able to challenge that a penalty was called.

KS, please get in touch with Mr Shoes and figure out how to turn that photo of Phoebe Cates into a film clip that goes beyound the photo point.  But, skip over the parts where Brad is whacking off. ;D

All you have to do is go to you tube and you can see all, including brad.

I believe that you're wrong stanbob. The Toomer push off was when they were going toward the goal line to screen left. The only interception was in the red zone at the right side of the TV screen. I know I'm getting "Oldtimers" but I believe I'm right about this one.

With all the arguing about the officiating you would think it was a Johnnie game.  ;D

Ret,
I think you TV is fine for nfl because that's how I recall the Toomer chuck, but you might need a new one for pux. :)

Caps didn't seem to think they didn't think Lehtonen stood on his head.

"Maybe it was [Lehtonen's] night. But anytime we don't score any goals, it's because we aren't going to the net or we're not creating things around the net." -- Mike Green, who can liven things up nicely with his rushes.

Lehtonen "played really solid, I don't think there's any denying that. But every shot he saw, except by Alex that just hit him in the glove. It wasn't like there was such a barrage of shots that he was making unbelievable saves. He made some pretty good saves. But we have to do better." -- Bruce Boudreau

If a team plays well and loses, players are always willing to go with that "we ran into a hot keeper" alibi. I'm guessing that even as happy as they were with their defense, Bourdeau rang them up for lousy shot selection and not mucking it up in the slot.

Unfortunately, my next live view of these guys will likely be from back up in the 400s. It was nice, for a change, to watch a game without realizing that you're spending most of your time watching the huge video screen.
