FrankRickard?
Great, haven't heard from him in a while.

Indeed.... I believe he and TDT have holed up in SW Florida in some kind of weird love triangle.

Developing....

I think TDT's little brother or long lost cousin came in to see me yesterday! I had a kid come in wearing a short-sleeved Hooter's t-shirt with a long-sleeved pink t-shirt underneath. Quite the fashion statement on many different levels. ;)

Well, I admit that it has been quite a while since I had walleye, and, I was quite young at the time, however, I remember it being somewhat oily.
If it was oily it was from the way it was cooked.  Walleye is a very light, flaky fish with about as mild a flavor as one could imagine.

Walleye is one of the lightest, flakiest, tastiest fish in the world. By far the best fish tacos I ever had were in Canada, made from walleye caught on the Lower Columbia. Oily? Only if it was caught in the Port of Valdez.

I think some wily Minnesotan saw the Snoop coming and snuck in mackerel and called it walleye.  ;D

bennie,
What are the chances that Chris Simon is the first Wild to win the Lady Byng?  :P

Better that than some lutefisk wrapped in lefsa and calling it a Norwegian fish taco! 8)

I think he is already out of the running for this year...maybe next year! :D Actually, with him on the same team with some of his former dance partners, it does increase the chances from a cold day in hell to a merely chilly day in hell!

I will have to give it another try when my son and I visit Minn in a couple weeks.
Beware!  Don't let another wily Minnesotan slip you a "makie" :P

My buddy ate from a street vendor and had to have surgery to remove the parasites in his stomach.  Be careful, but you are right the fish is great caught fresh.  Its great to wash down with some good Mexican cerveza, Modelo, Pacifico, Corona, dos and tres xx's.

Duff, you are right.  The preperation was awful.  I will have to give it another try when my son and I visit Minn in a couple weeks.

Try the pan fried walleye at Sunsets in Wayzata if you get a chance.  Other suggestions anyone?

GF...Very good......+k

As a kid, I remember eating and enjoying perch that we caught in Canada.  Since Walleye are a member of the perch family.........it had to be the preperation, or a "makie". :D  Maybe I bought it from a roadside vendor.

Just got back from the accountants. Did you ever notice:  When you put the 2 words "The" and "IRS" together it spells "THEIRS"?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Cool.  That's even better then breaking apart a "therapist" to get "the rapist". ;D

Snoop,
While you're at it, make sure and treat yourself to a Central Minnesota Martini.  8)

I'd say the Tavern on Grand in St. Paul or in St. Cloud at Anton's (Fish & Whiskey). Wherever you go, avoid any fish "battered" or you'll get a fishy tasting cheese curd. Get it broiled, baked or breaded, and the fresher, the better.

The real question here is how could the Minnesotans pick those two traditional foods as part of our Norwegian heritage?  When I was a kid going to the grandparent's farm and we knew Grandma was making lefsa, then dad couldn't drive fast enough.  If there was lutefisk on order, the dry heaves started in Walker and turned sour about five miles from their place.

And how is it that if it tastes great (lefsa), parents never tell the kids to eat just one more bite, but if it's horrifyingly awful (lutefisk) then the opposite is true?
