I just mailed in my taxes. I am not happy. Everyone please take BDB's lead, and lay some tax jokes and funnies on me.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

If Pam Ward does the NFL Network package, that would mean she probably wouldn't do the Stagg Bowl. So I'm all for it.

Speaking of outrageous tax proposals...

Quote
SACRAMENTO - California Assemblyman Jim Beall (D-San Jose) proposed raising the state's beer tax to 30 cents per can or bottle, a 28-cent jump. "The people who use alcohol should pay for part of the cost to society, just like we've accepted that concept with tobacco," said Beall, a freshman lawmaker.

Beall said the tax would generate $2 billion a year to fund health care services, crime prevention and programs to prevent underage drinking and addiction.

"The people who use alcohol should pay for part of the cost to society, just like we've accepted that concept with tobacco," Beall said.

He added that the beer tax hasn't been touched since 1991, and the increase then was meager.

But the freshman lawmaker will have to lift the legislative equivalent of a full keg of beer over his head to get his tax enacted. That's because it would require a two-thirds vote in the Assembly and Senate - and then, because it's a constitutional amendment, it would have to be approved by voters. Republicans say it's a non-starter.
...

Mike Fox Sr., chairman of San Jose-based beer distributor M.E. Fox & Co., said Beall's heart is in the right place. "He's very dedicated in areas of health," Fox said. "But a tax of that nature is far too grievous. The beer industry produces so much for the economy. He won't get to first base with that." Dan Gordon, co-founder of Gordon Biersch Brewing Co., calculated that the tax on a barrel of beer would go from $6.40 to $89. "We would all be looking for jobs," he said.
...

I predict another Boston Tea Party if this passes, only it won't be tea being poured into the ocean.

I agree with that, but I also think we as a country are getting to a tipping point.  I heard today that New York will have if passed the highest cigarettes in the country at $9 a pack.  If politicians keep taxing the way they have it may lead to another revolution.

I agree with you.  I think that they need some one else to do the game.  Pat I nominate you to take over for Pam.  You are way more informed about it than her (or anyone else).

I've had more problems with the color guys they've had on the Stagg broadcasts.  Chris Spielman needs to go back to tOSU for some remedial English and Mike Gottfried is a blowhard.  I don't even remember Ray Bentley, but maybe that's good compared to the others.

A Natural Born Salesman

A young guy from Wisconsin moves to Minnesota and goes to a big "everything under one roof" department store looking for a job.

The Manager says, "Do you have any sales experience?"

The kid says "Yeah. I was a salesman back in Wisconsin."

Well, the boss liked the kid and gave him the job. "You start tomorrow. I'll come down after we close and see how
you did."

His first day on the job was rough, but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down.

"How many customers bought something from you today?

The kid says "one".

The boss says "Just one? Our sales people average 20 to 30 customers a day. How much was the sale for?"

The kid says "$101,237.65."

The boss says "$101,237.65? What the heck did you sell?"

The kid says, "First, I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fishhook. Then I sold him a larger
fishhook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said up to the lakes, so I told him he was going to need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him a Twin
engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4x4 Expedition."

The boss said "A guy came in here to buy a fish hook And you sold him a BOAT and a TRUCK?"

The kid said "No, the guy came in here to buy Tampons for his wife, and I said, 'Dude, your weekend's shot, you
should go fishing."

Could anyone have predicted after the twins were up by 5 runs (twice) would lose to the Tigers last night?  I couldn 't believe it!  But I don't agree with commentators on ESPN who say that the tigers are the worst team in the league.  Yes, they own the worst record, but they have a good team.

Sabretooth Tiger

A penguin takes his car into the shop. The mechanic says he'll take a look at it and to come back in an hour. So the penguin goes across the street to get some ice cream. Of course a penguin doesn't have any hands so he makes a mess and gets ice cream all over himself. When he returns to the shop, the mechanic says, "Looks like you've blown a seal." At which point the penguin says, "No, I just had some ice cream."

What? Taxes are due today? Looks like I better meet with that new accountant tonight to see if she can handle my extension.
