Anyone see the PGA Tourney at Colonial? Gary McCord had a good line after someone hit a terrible shot. "That was Amy Winehouse ugly!"

Why does the Navy have such non-conforming officer ranks?

              NAVY                                     ARMY/MARINES
O-1        Ensign                                     2nd Lieutenant
O-2        Lieutenant JG                           1st Lieutenant
O-3        Lieutenant                               Captain
O-4           Lt. Commander                                Major
O-5           Commander                                      Lt. Colonel
O-6           Captain                                               Colonel
O-7           Rear Admiral  Lower Half              Brigadier General
O-8           Rear Admiral  Upper Half              Major General
O-9           Vice Admiral                                     Lt. General
O-10         Admiral                                              General

I won't go any further, because I get confused after this.
I don't know how far into antiquity the distinctions go!  ???

Don't forget that the captain of any ship is called "Captain" regardless of his rank.

If you want a real treat, do a comparison of the enlisted and warrant ranks.

The Navy enlisted and Warrant ranks are easy compared to the other services.

The Navy still uses Commodore, but it is an honorary title give to the commander of a Squadron, IE: Commodore SubRon 6.  It is usually either a Captain or Rear Admiral Lower rank.

BDB- Hope you had a good weekend, and an especially good day. Happy B-Day.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Damn squids.  The leisure suit was invented by the Navy for the underwater guys; ditto for Dairy Queen soft ice cream. :D

In honor of BDB's birthday and the Navy talk, I'll do the best Navy joke I've got:

Why do sailors use powdered soap?

It takes longer to pick up.

Thanks for the birthday wishes fellas. I had a great weekend.

Watched 1100 miles of racing on Sunday.

Very good friends of ours on the lake have a boy with the same birthday. They threw a lake side party for him (3) and me (?) yesterday.

Beer, bonfire, brats, good times.  8)

First off, congratulations Dusty - Dr. KR - whatever you prefer!  What an accomplishment!

Glad you had a good birthday, BDB.  Amazingly, you have the same birthday as Guy Bellair :)

We had some f'ed up Memorial Day weather.  I caught my fair share of bass, but nothing worth bragging about.  I also enjoyed numerous beers and braved the cool, West Central MN waters to get my first ski runs of the year in - I'm a little out of shape and forgot I had most of the muscles that are hurting right now  :-[

6 days and the new bride and I will be in Mexico where we won't have to worry about this cold weather!!!

Since Duff is getting married on Saturday, which probably means he isn't working on Friday, we as members of the MIACPP need to get him to plus 1000 K in the next couple days as a wedding gift.

Who's with me? I'm spent for 24.  :)

Nice article on a new/old SJU assistant football coach whom some of you no doubt know.

Mike's a great guy, and it will be great to have him back at SJU!  It's good to hear things are looking up for him.

A belated Happy Birthday to you, BDB!  Sounds like you had a great celebration.

An early congrats to you, Duffman, on taking the plunge into wedded bliss!  June will be my 30th anniversary. The big key for us has been to always work as a partnership.  The burdens of life can not fall unequally on one partner more than the other.  Also, we are not the same people in our 50's that we were in our 20's so know and accept that both of you will change and evolve over the years.  I am in for  +karma for Duff in honor of the day.

Dr. KR, Duff's wedding, BDB's birthday.............the MIAC board is having a big week!  Congrats to all!

BDB Happy birthday!

Duff, Here's One +K for the effort. Good Luck!

Dr. K.R. Congratulations. A great accomplishment.

+k to all within reach of the last few pages.

Walleye fishing was outstanding on Lake of the Woods this past weekend!
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run

You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun

It looks like the best weather last weekend was in the far north. Golfed the Quarry at Giants Ridge on Friday, the Wilderness on Saturday, and the International Falls Country Club on Sunday. Mid to upper 70's all 3 days, no rain until Sunday night, so we fled yesterday.

Marriage advice:
I thought I should get married when I met Miss Right.
It wasn't until after that I realized her first name was "Always".

Congrats to all on their millstones milestones.

+k to all the usual suspects

Shouldn't be a problem, BDB.  I also think we should try to get JR over 100.  Every time I see him he's been pounded down under 70.  It must be someone who misses the stories he used to tell when he was in the DA's office.
