The Memorial Day services in Secaucus, NJ last Thursday evening and yesterday morning were well attended and went off well.  We have had the same kid playing taps since he was about 12, he is now a Jr or Sr in high school, the kid keeps getting better.  Yesterday the man who has been my mentor in the VFW and a PT boat sailor read the names of all the Secaucus war dead.  As he read each name a Boy Scout placed a flag at the crosses that we erect at the town hall every memorial day.  After the reading of the war dead the town kid played Taps and we raised the flags back to full staff.

Today the Stalkerette is taking Buddy Poppies to her class and teachers and is going to teach them what the Poppy means to the vets.

Thanks to all who took time to remember the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom.

Since Duff is getting married on Saturday, which probably means he isn't working on Friday, we as members of the MIACPP need to get him to plus 1000 K in the next couple days as a wedding gift.

Who's with me? I'm spent for 24.  :)
I grabbed 998.  #1000 gets an all expense paid sturgeon fishing trip with Duffman?

Love the new moniker, Dr. KR.  I assume the D3 Guru's had a hand in that since you were able to change it and maintain all your karma and posting credentials. The best of luck to you and your wife, thank you for your service and most importantly,  be safe!

Tmerton, +karma for the Kildare observation.  Started my day out with a chuckle!

Nah, I changed it. If you go to your own profile and click on "Account Related Settings" you can change your username. I changed it back because I thought it sounded a little snooty.

Thanks to all for the congrats! +k back at ya.

I got Duff teed up on 999, who's gonna do the honors?

Happy Belated BDay BDB!!!

Duff,
Congrats on the wedding in advance. I will be in the midst of driving halfway cross the country so I doubt I'll be able to congratulate you on the actual day. Best of luck to ya bud!

As a Dr, I guess I can legally prescribe the Vitamin K+ that I just dished out on all within reach ;)
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

You'll always be "Cousin" to me.

More advice:
Love is blind, but marriage is a real eye-opener.

Lt Rat could work, but then I'd have non-navy people underestimating my rank and stature, both of which are quite impressive ;D

Cousin,
Glad to hear the fishing went well for ya and the drinking went even better!
When ya coming to San Diego? (which of course is German for... nevermind)

As my grandpa once told me back before the Alzheimer'skicked in, "Remember that no matter how pretty she is and how sweet she may seem, some guy somewhere is sick of her sh*t."

Just wanted to note that Duff has quietly eased up to the 1000 mark, with no one (so far) taking credit - or asking to go on the fishing trip. :D

Cousin,
When ya coming to San Diego?

Probably won't get there until December. But I'll be staying through April.

Still more advice:
Marriage is like a bath. Once you get used to it, it's not so hot.

Marriage is like a savings account. You put it in, you take it out, you lose interest. (Substantial penalty for early withdrawal!)

They say that curiosity killed the cat, it might have also just killed some of my brain cells. I feel stupider for having checked The Bachelorette episode guide to check if Ryan had been kicked to the curb yet. For the record, he has. Apparently Ryan had some issues with one of the other guys and they decide to have a pushup challenge. Good Lord. Why not just drop trou and get a ruler!! 8) They could just change some of the scenarios and they have the makings for a script for a show about junior high! Reading the episode guide was painful and uncomfortable enough, there is no way I would actually watch this crap!

Oh, and belated happy birthday BDB, congrats on the upcoming nuptials Duff and job well done Kilted Rat!!

I think the title is appropriate.  IMHO it does not sound snooty.

Your suggestion about the trousers might make for good TV though.  Better than the pushup contest.  Or at least that is what is perceived as good TV.  I don't think I have ever watched the Bachelor or Bachelortte on TV just does not seem interesting to me.
