Truck/Travel Trailer Crashes Texas State Bank- July 2, 2008

At approximately 3 PM, Tuesday, July 2, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, pulling a new travel trailer, hit the corner of the Texas State Bank Drive-In on Tenaha Street, causing the complete awning to come to the ground. Luckily, the driver of the Dodge, Mickey Miller, of Garrison and his 10 year old son were able to exit their vehicle uninjured.

According to Miller he was circling the bank to park on the other side when the corner of his travel trailer caught the corner of the bank awning. Next thing he heard was a rumble as the awning started falling against his driver's side door. Somehow he was able to unbuckle the seat beat and exit the other side of his truck as it was falling.

What has been a crummy day so far turned decidedly brighter with the news that Billy Packer is stepping down as CBS BB analyst.  Now, if Dicky V would only follow suit.

A couple of years ago, I handled a case where a trucking outfit was hauling an over sized load for another company.  The company had to apply to the State to get an approved route because of the overpasses on the freeways.  Some clerical bozo at the State made a very serious mistake that almost brought down the entire overpass and did extensive damage to the driver and his vehicle.  The top of the load hit the overpass at about 40 mph.  Now thats what I call a real whiplash.

A couple of years ago I saw a guy pulling a boat with a large pick up truck in a drive through at a fast food joint who realized he couldn't make it and had his trailer jack knifed in the driveway......what a maroon.

Amazing that he lived and that his son lived.  Great pictures though.

Crud.  It looks like Jesse won't be providing us electoral fireworks after all.

Oh Goody!  It's been discussed (threatened?) for a few months now, but the word is officially in!  Jesse "The Body" has declared he's running in this year's Senate race.  I gotta run down to the consulate and get my absentee ballot straight away.  This is an election cycle that can't be missed.

"That's the reason I run," [The Body] says. "I run because it angers me...All you Minnesotans take a good hard look at all three of us. And you decide: if you were in a dark alley which one of the three of us would you want with you?"

EDIT: And, of course, "I ain't got time to bleed" may be one of the best bit lines ever delivered in the tough-guy movie genre.

(And just in case my sanity is being questioned, no, I'm not a Jesse supporter, but how can you not help being a fan?  It's like Paris Hilton; no one wants her for a daughter, but we're all kind of glad she's around.)
