An elderly Italian man who lived on the outskirts of Rimini, Italy, went to the local church for confession. When the priest slid open the panel in the confessional, The man said: 'Father ... During World War II, a beautiful Jewish woman from our neighborhood knocked urgently on my door and asked me to hide her from the Nazis. So I hid her in my attic.'

The priest replied: 'That was a wonderful thing you did, and you have no need to confess that sacrifice'

'There is more to tell, Father... She was in my house and we were together all the time.  I kept her hidden and brought her food and wine.  She started to repay me with sexual favors. This happened several times a week, and sometimes twice on Sundays.'  I gratefully accepted her appreciation for my actions.'

The priest said, 'That was a long time ago and by doing what you did, you placed the two of you in great danger.   Two people under those circumstances can easily succumb to the weakness of the flesh.  However, if you are truly sorry for your actions, you are indeed forgiven'

'Thank you, Father. That's a great load off my mind, but I do have one more question.'

'And what is that?' asked the priest.

'Should I tell her the war is over?''

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Two years ago I caught one of these nasty bugger on the St. Croix River.  Meanest fish I can imagine.  Picture me standing on the seat of my friend's boat yelling because a fricking eel is slithering around the bottom of the boat trying to bite me.  Entertaining, but I will never bring another one in the boat again.

Twins looked good tonight. Time for some roster moves. I would guess that livan has pitched his last game and they should also tube Monroe. Obvious pitcher to call up will be Liriano. For a right-handed bat it would not surprise me to see them call up someone like Randy Ruiz.

TC and TDT: You got nothin'!

Liriano, Ruiz to join Twins; Hernandez, Monroe headed out

The Twins plan to cut ties with Livan Hernandez and Craig Monroe today, clearing space for Francisco Liriano and Randy Ruiz to join the roster from Class AAA Rochester.

A quick update on the Olaf guys with the Redskins. Other than having the name of the college as St. Olaf's and having it located in St. Paul, nice article.

Sneak peek at some of tmert's fish.

After the fourth pot of beer, she didn't look this bad.

(EDIT: On further consideration, this may be considered an egregious libel against the lovely Mrs. tmerts.  Any such implication was far, far, far from my mind and I apologize for it without reserve.)

flash - Where were you yesterday. We were coming back from watching the Cubs dismantle the Brewers, and a maroon Jeep passed us going about 90. It was obvious the driver was tuned up. He almost lost it in the medan at least twice, and was using three lanes as well as the shoulders. We saw a Wisconsin State Trooper who had a pickup with a couple teenagers pulled over, so we stopped and I advised him of this dangerous situation. He didn't seem too anxious to do anything about it though. I guess he would rather give a ticket to a 17 year old who was doing 70 than actually SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE!

Interesting night. The guy that I help put on our Futures Tour Tournament here is a minor, minority owner of the Class A Lansing Lugnuts. They played the Beloit Sanppers tonight in Beloit, so we went to check out "his team." Beloit had a catcher from Success, Australia - Allen de san Miguel. Also starting in left field was Andrew Schmeising, recent WR for St Olaf. The Lugnuts had a player in right field, Moises Sierra, who in the same inning threw rockets, on the fly to third base, and then later home. Nice arm and accurate.

Officially retired as of today, +K to the regulars, -K for TDT (winner of the delmon young .300 contest).  As the Dead said what a long strange trip it's been,  Thanks to KR for picking up the military service, though i was no doctor.  (the difference between a doctor and a mechanic is a mechanic washes his hands before taking a piss),  Hopefully back in time for some Johnnie games this fall.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Congrats Stanbob! I think you were in long enough.

Hope you enjoy your retirement.
