Update on the Aussie Rules...

The Mighty Fighting Hawks are third on the ladder at 14-4 with four rounds to go in the regular season.  They hit a rough patch but have really started to flow again in the last two weeks, destroying the hoodlum Magpies of Collingwood on Friday night.

So, if we can continue to peak and keep running strong into the post season we may do well against the rumbling juggernaut of the Geelong Cats, defending champions.  The kitties at 17-1 have been stepping from one plateau to the next this season, with only one freakish mind lapse against Collingwood for a loss.  The Hawks in a blistering contest that see-sawed frequently, lost to the Cats two weeks ago by only 11 points in front of a boisterous 90,000 screaming footy lovers at the MCG.  It bodes well for our chances if we meet in the Grand Final (finishing second or third will see us moving up the other side of brackets in the odd semi-double elimination 8 team post season that AFL uses).

If your appetite for Aussie Rules needs whetting, here are some fourth quarter highlights from our victory over Geelong when we were really getting the run on.

EDIT: Actually, watch these highlights from the beginning of the game instead, when Collingwood had some game and played a bit more desperately.

Gotta love day game wins for the twins, watching the replays again at night are fantastic.  Whats going to happen when Cuddyer comes back?
This is a good question for one of the TNT boys.

As much as I hate to see summer end, we really need to get to football season....soon. ;)

So did he announce who the starting QB will be? It's between Kofoed and Keating right?  ;)

No, that's the battle for third-string.  Somehow both Pat Mayew and Willie Seiler discovered an unused year of eligibility over the offseason and are enrolled in fall classes.

Can't decide what's more awesome--that a D3 school is webcasting their kickoff luncheon or that the webcast works on my work computer.

I'm assuming they'll archive it and we can replay later. 8)

Well, I wasn't able to hear what was just said from the podium - so I hope they can fix that.

Edit: They seem to have turned up the sound.  I could hear someone telling Gags (I think) that they were streaming the luncheon.

In case anyone 's interested, here's a link to WEAU TV13 in Eau Claire, which carries a link to the live press conference to be held shortly regarding Brett Favre - I imagine ESPN has it live on TV...

Hmm, loud and clear here.  You missed the prayer and an announcement that the coaches will be making their comments after about a half hour to enjoy lunch.  Sounds like things will be kicking off at about 12:30 central time, 10:30 tmert time.

TC will you be Live Blogging the event?

Ha, no.  But I have shut my office door and blinds and will hop on here if anything interesting is said.

I do wish they'd stop applauding, though.
