Tmert Jr. already got a mention!  Too rambunctious, though.

Jerry didn't mention Josh Rose when discussing the linebackers.   :-X

I think that goes back to freshman year when he gave Kofoed a littls shove when he took off running.  He would love to hit more in practice.

TC

Yeah, I caught that.  He only mentioned Wimmer and Eid as starters, didn't he?  Then Kotsmith, Foertsch, and some Stanton kid from California drew a mention as possible rotation players.

Jimmy G. with the offensive dirt now...

Sounds like a two horse race at QB, Hansel and Boyle.  They don't know how Crees is recovering from his shoulder surgery, but he will be back with the team.  Right now he sounds like a clear #3.

TC will you be Live Blogging the event?

Ha, no.  But I have shut my office door and blinds and will hop on here if anything interesting is said.

I've maintained this all along--I think Rose is better suited as a D-end.

100% agreed Duffman.  Jerry mentioned the 3 returners on the DL including Gundy, Luke, Schumacher, and....Rose.  Sounds pretty formidable to me.

How about this Sharpe fellow from NDSU?  Was he mentioned at all?

Gary mentioned all the transfers before Jerry spoke but aside from saying good things about all of them in general he just mentioned their names (with some help) and positions.

Just found a store here in western Colorado that stocks Leinie's Sunset Wheat. Since I haven't lived in Chippewa since before most of you were born, I would like to know if it is worth a try?  ??? :-\

Almost 100% certain that the 4th d-lineman mentioned was David Burns, an '07 transfer from NDSU, not Rose.

When Gary was listing the transfers he mentioned both Jeff Bohlman and Jimmy Sharpe as defensive linemen.  Bohlman was recruited to Air Force as a linebacker before moving to defensive end as a Bison.  Sharpe was expected to be a top backup and potentially compete for a starting spot on the line for NDSU this season.  Regardless of where Rose ends up, it looks like the defensive line will be a strength.

The other transfer that he mentioned prominently was Erik Kottem, who redshirted at the U of M and would presumably step in and fill one of three open spots on the offensive line.  The two other less notable transfers were Jakob Reding (fullback) and Ben Broderick (O-line).

Gary also made a point of mentioning that 12 of the 60 first year recruits were from local schools and 4 of them played in the state high school all-star game.  Eric Dirkes, O-line from Albany, seems to be the big name.  The other three:  Jimmy Loonan, RB from Waseca, Jimmy Stodolka, center from St. Thomas Academy, and Nick Zweber, LB from New Prague.  Apparently Trent Johnson, TE from Holy Family, also played in the game and will be attending SJU but wasn't mentioned by Gary.

gREAT  to see all at the JFC meeting monday!

nice to see and read you all.  I am not even going to try and go back to read all the pages, but I can guess they have a lot to do with: Twins, friggin' hockey earlier in the summer, Bethel-ites starting to make their yearly 4-5 week appearances, and Hamms.

Just polished off my 1st case of Schlitz this morning.  Quite a tastey brew....onto the Chelada's, then to the scotch.

Christ, I have to start working again in a week!?!?!?!

Schlitz?  Tasty?  I haven't heard those two words spoken together in about 30 years.
