Looking at the survey above, it appears as if someone has voted "He's Bleeding Purple, Baby!" in the last day.
Well, considering the fact that the moron didn't know the Jets went 4-12 last year until after he arrived in New York, this deal may not be finished yet. ;) ;D ???

Under 9 hours now until the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in lovely Beijing...

May we see many lovely shots of Chairman Mao hanging over the entrance of the Forbidden City.  This photo taken from just across the street in Tienanmen Square (blood stains not visible on Google Maps) demonstrates how thick the pollution really is.  The police officer is standing under the umbrella to protect from the heat, this being a summer day, rather than the rain you may suspect from the gray sky.

The best thing about these games?  When they are finished, there will only be 13 days until kick-off.  (And of course, we gotta cheer for Matt Schnobrich, who is blogging the games at St John's website here.)

Been here for over a week and have seen only a couple of patches of sky. Maybe this rain will help, maybe not -- huge storm here tonight.

But I'm way, way behind on the board and fear I can't catch up.

Cliff Notes back to July 31, anyone?

Welcome to my timezone, repete (or almost my timezone).

In catching up, I recommend you start at this post and read the comments on the football luncheon.  Gets the spirit started.

I also recommend you avoid towers and screaming crazies with machetes.

Sarcasm aside, which events have you seen or are going to see?  Exciting?

Schnobrich and his boat took second in their qualifying heat about 15 minutes ago and failed to secure auto-advancement into the finals.  They race tomorrow at roughly the same time in the repechage where the top four finishers win a place in the finals.  The US finished five seconds in front of the next non-qualifier so let's hope for the best.

For the man who has everything.
Solves the following dilemma:

There once was a girl who begat
Triplets named Nat, Pat and Tat
It was fun in the breeding
But hell in the feeding
When she found there was no tit for Tat

The groans were audible all the way out here in MN/WI. I had to +k you just for having the nads to put it on here.

Just like martinis, one's not enough and three are too many.

And, ONE Punto is one too many.  >:(
The KC Royals should have named him their player of the game yesterday.  :P

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I tried the "new" Schlitz (they are supposedly using their old formula) this weekend, and I've got to say, it was pretty good.  There's something wrong about paying $10 for a 12-pack of Schlitz, though.

I also tried the new Lakemaid beer--a collaboration of Rapala and Schell's Brewery.  I was unimpressed.  I was expecting it to be much better than it was.  The plus side is that each bottle has a picture of a half-fish/half woman on the label (the top half was woman).

A tradition unrivaled...

BDB,
Menomonie's version of a Stiftungfestivity and you haven't told us about it ???

The Great Community Cookout will be held in downtown Menom-onie from 5 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14. The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales — in town to celebrate the grand opening of the new Bill's Distributing facility — will be on parade; photos can be taken from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Fourth Street. The event features music by Home Grown Tomatoes and food from local vendors.

Rajkowski has the first installment of his MIAC season preview posted.

This installment's summary (in a grossly unfair simplification):

Hamline: Rebuilding
Carleton: Maybe

Good news, the US, with Schnobrich on board, just finished first in the 8 man repecharge.  Doubly good news is that the Aussies finished second.  They both move onto the medal race.
