If the Oles are 10 times better than their 2004 team, then they should have beaten Mac 590-70 this year instead, of a mere 71-7.

Jeez, I guess Meidt didn't pour it on the Scots after all...

The "sea of red" is more motivating than intimidating. The good players play their best games at Clemens. Its the most fun atmostphere you get to play in. As a former player who never had the opportunity to PLAY in this type of a game with this much importance, I can't wait to be a FAN during one.

Repete,
You make a good point, in that it probably isn't fair to say team x is y times better than team z. Just from watching them play this year, I have never seen an Olaf team with talent, coaching, and the ability to execute a game plan like this Olaf team.

The scarriest thing to me is that this Olaf team is 10 times better than the other 2 who defeated SJU.

I just spoke to John Gagliardi.  Based on this new information he has decided to forfeit the game and hope Concorida has the courage to show up in two in weeks.  If Concordia can defeat the Olaf jugernaut, SJU might still have a shot at the playoffs.

At least then you wouldn't need to figure out a way to call it a "fluke."  :-X

WAHOO-

If SOC can beat SJU in Collegeville, I'll be the first to say SOC is not a fluke.

Hopefully, the SJU D can at least slow down or contain the Ole offense.

Any poster's thoughts on how SJU stops the Miedty Ole Offense?

Gator,

Dumo and Good will spend so much time in the Olaf backfield that Wilsey will think
they are his room mates.   ;D

Does Olaf audible a lot?

The SJU crowd noise usually makes that very difficult, especially on crucial downs.

105- You're correct on all counts.  I haven't had much time to read up with this board moving so fast.  I have my final Chiropractic boards in 2 weeks so my nose has been in the books.

Next Saturday I will be in St. Cloud watching my brother-in-law play in H.S. playoffs so no dice on next weeks  Stig..festivaties.

Congratulations to the Ole's on a solid season.  It will be fun to have a meaningful game in Collegeville so late in the season.  I think the "X" factor is how tested the Ole's have been this season.  I honestly believe they have not been tested by anybody and it could be costly for them on Saturday.
St. John's teams generally are more than ready to play in big games late in the year.  It is my opinion the Johnnies overlooked Olaf last year.  My fear is that SJU will win this Saturday...have  a week off and lay an egg against the Tommies in St. Paul.  This SJU team is more than capable of overlooking an opponent.

I think the Johnnies win by about 10....let's say 24 to 14.

I also believe that Olaf's gain has been the Royal's (BU) loss.  Chris Meidt has done a good job in Northfield and Bethel seems to have taken a few steps back.  Time will tell if I am correct.

I'll be looking forward to Saturday all week long!!!  I haven't been to Collegeville for a game this year.
Go Johnnies!

My comments on the game-- LAB9 played pretty well, considering he had 1) zero time and 2) zero receivers open.  I brought some non-MIACers to the game, and they actually felt sorry for the Auggies-- SJU had 200 people on the sideline; Augsburg seemed to barely fit 50.  Haege will definitely be starting from scratch, and there's no place to go but up for him.

About STO: I actually have a lot of respect for the Oles.  But I'm not going to bend over backwards just because STO is undefeated to date in playing mediocre teams while SJU has beaten UWEC and Cord.  While Oles count from 2001 and are 2-2, STO is 3-15 against SJU since 1987.

Wahoo3-- I can understand what you mean about the sea of red bringing out the best in people, but does that explain why SJU is 90-9-1 in their last 100 games at home?

Big Crowds are fun.....but as a player for SJU it is easy to drown it out.

Does playing in front of a big crowd..more than likely for the first time this year, with the reputaton of an undefeated season and a win needed to silence the people who say 8-2 (for STO) make a difference??

YEP!!!

Good luck on the coin toss STO...that's the only thing you have a chance of winning this weekend....

Its going to be a 1 1/3 monkey stomp   42-14

Where was Aug98 after the game??

We were all waiting for him to come up and do his business with Fins....

I had my money on Fins for that one!!

He had Hamms Courage...and was jamming to Journey!!!

I'd like to see MLV's "academic" expectations for attending AUG....

1) have a pulse
2) show up (every now and then)
3) dont throw objects at "professors"
4) prioritize you time (wrestling, social events at the U, football, frisbee golf, napping....oh yeah....that small thing called studying!!)

Agree

SJU will be more than ready for STO.  But SJU has had problems getting into gear again with a week off and the game not being as big-- remember the Redlands. The Tommies will be very high and they have always been very tough for SJU in St. Paul.
