Did you Minnesota guys hear that Janesvilleflash already quit the Pic em contest on the WIAC board?  Yes, he sucks at Pic em, but he shouldn't quit should he?  We are having your Pat Reusse on our Sat. show on Sat.  I plan on asking him about quitting---, maybe tie it in with Vikings just not playing Packers anymore.

You can just keep Reusse.  I am sure even he could find fault with the Packers if they were on his hometown beat.    He is a good baseball and basketball writer, 50-50 at football (the good 50 being on analysis of teams outside of Minnesota) and a terrible hockey writer.  In short, you can have him.

So FINE, again.  Just trying to point out that he is, indeed on THIS Sat.  You can't hear his banter on just ANY Sat.  J-esq.  could maybe tune in next Sat. when we'll probably have John O'Grady (RF head coach) on talking about his big upset of the previous week. ::)

The way I see it is that a sportswriter who doesn't understand hockey has no business being a sportswriter in a hockey town.

Plus, his shtick is predictable-- celebrate the underdog and find all faults in the dominant.  Exceptions include gopher football, which is to be hated because they aren't as good as the Vikings; and USTd football because, lord knows, they are really underdogs (despite being WIAC-sized and blessed with the largest endowment in the MIAC).

In other words, carry out personal vendettas against coaches and programs he doesn't like.  But that makes a good sportswriter... ::)

Glad that your show can get him-- but he has already turned into Sid Jr for my tastes....

j_esq, our big "get" was last year when we had Johnnie Red and finsleft on live from River Falls.   8)

That was shortly before the "hey, you gotta pay to park that picnic table there" incident.  ;D

Do you tape the programs?  Maybe you could replay the interview segments with JJR and fins this week .. or even next - after the thrashing RF receives in Collegeville this weekend. 8)

Don't be so hard on Mr. Reusse! Remember that he is from Fulda. I should also disclose that he wrote a story about me in the fall of 1970 for the St. Paul Pioneer Press when I was a one man cross-country team from Norwood Young America and drove to Glencoe every day after school to run with their team.

Did you already look like Bono, even in those early days?  The resemblance is uncanny.

Well, I have to come back now that the season is officially underway!  I'm glad to hear that my boys won on Saturday, and came away without any NEW serious injuries.  From what I hear, Jason Potts and Mike Nourie did not play due to previous injuries.  I stopped by practice yesterday and am not sure either one will be ready to go against Wartburg this Saturday evening.  I do hope that they can play, as both are very good and important players on that offense, and I just hope that they are healed enough to play and, hopefully, defend last years win over the Knights.  Speaking of the Knights...  like I said, I stopped in to coach's office yesterday and watched some film.  Wartburg looked good in their win over St. Norbert in week one.  They look to have some good size up front and gave their QB some good time in the pocket to look downfield.  On the other side of the ball, they are very fast in the secondary, and do a good job of gang tackling.  I don't think my boys stand a chance.  Wartburg's so good, they probably don't even need to try all that hard to get the W.  The Knights look to be substantially larger, faster, and stronger.  I just hope that we don't get embarrased!

prediction:  Auggies 35  Knights 28
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Looks like someone might be trying to get the Knights to overlook Augsburg even though they were defeated by them last year!

Don't worry Klops, Snoopizzle televizzle is still around lurking in the shadows...Wartburg might be a bit overrated again this year in my honest opinion...I foresee the Auggie Arena Offense taking it to Iowa this weekend to the tune of 37-13...CAGEMATCH
