good article on Carleton receiver Matt Frank.

After the Olaf game doctors were telling him his season/career could be over.  Later in the week after a few more opinions it is determined that he should be able to play after sitting out a week.  ( quite an extreme change in the doctor's opinions)  He will be suiting up this weekend.  Not a bad turnaround.  Would have been a tough blow as he had to miss most of last year with a spleen injury.

Looking forward to the game Saturday.  Arlt is a great football player and will definitely give carleton a run for their money.  Hopefully the team has turned their focus to Gustavus after last week's high emotion game.

Prediction:

Carleton 24
Gustavus 14

Thanks for the update on Matt, very glad that he'll be able to finish out his senior season as it greatly improves the knights chances and you never want to see someone miss out on their last chance to play college ball.  Last week the knights showed that they have some young talent at reciever (depth), but they are a much more dangerous team offensively with Frank in the lineup.  The article said it was a seperated shoulder, did it just end up not being as bad of a degree of sprain than originally thought?

I'm a little worried about a letdown after last weeks slugfest, but I think the team has the right attitude this year and Ramler will keep them focused on the task at hand.

Go Knights!

My fault for not realizing the game was to be played in St. Paul.  I really don't care about the Johnnies losing as much as you might think.  It's been 3 years since they won an outright championship.  They aren't blowing anybody out at home and I don't believe there are any all-americans that are going to be playing Saturday.  Maybe St. Thomas isn't a 3 touchdown favorite, but they are the favorite.   Every St. Thomas win brings more possible importance to the Northwestern-UST matchup on Nov. 15.  If the Tommies win a few more, that would essentially be a playoff game for Northwestern to get a Pool B bid.  now you know my true motivation.

I'll make sure to mark my calendar for that... ::)

bennie,
I'm sure you'd rather hear that than watch the Jackets at the Wild on 11/15  ;D

Admittedly, both games could be painfully comical! 8)

Dietrich's letter of resignation of today is posted there, as it is at the csbsju website.

Dear Bennie,  If you would rather talk about hockey, I'm sure there are many options available to you.  This is D3 football in 2008 where St. Thomas has beaten Concordia on the road and the Cobbs have beaten your team at home.

Is Frank out with a spleen or a shoulder? Given the status of Al Harris, a spleen would seem to be a tricky situation with no clear solution. As someone who missed his senior season with an injury, I can only wish him the best. Except for this weekend, obviously :)

AO - Didn't you get the memo? This isn't a football board, it's the SJU board. They talk about whatever they want, whenever they want. Especially when the Johnnies are struggling ::)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Rumor has it that your injury was a severe concussion that you have never fully recovered from?

57, I may or not be here on Saturday, I have movers coming at 9:00 Monday morning and I may have to get my modem turned in Saturday or risk not getting it tuyrned in before I leave.   ???

Separated shoulder in the Olaf game. He had the spleen injury during training camp of last year.

Dear AO,

Last time I checked, Northwestern was not in the MIAC. It really is too bad that you couldn't get admitted to Bethel, St. Olaf or now St. Thomas so that you could be something other that a bandwagon jumping wanna be... Let me know when Northwestern beats the Johnnies at home! 8)
