In today's economy if ths board wasn't at least a breakeven situation, it wouldn't exist.

Some people still do loss leaders. :)

But seriously, we've gotten about nine cents per thousand page views on the message board this month.
If we all got in the habbit of clicking on an ad each time we log on or change threads, how long would it take before your advertisers noticed the lack of follow-through?  Maybe we could at least generate a little windfall for you.

71, I believe you are inviting "click fraud" and Pat doesn't want to be part of that.

The business  model if I'm not mistaken, is to use the forums as a traffic building tool which then allows Pat to use these numbers to sell "premium" advertising to other segments of the site such as ATN. Also, Pat sells the Season Preview for all the teams- high profit margin  ;)
I'm sure Pat has long range financial plans for the site. He has the traffic so that's over half the battle of making with an information site. Pat's a smart guy, he'll do fine.
Edit:  oops, forgot to add the  ;)  Don't want to promote fraud.

Click fraud. Yet one more term that didn't exist 15 years ago.  :P   ;)

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

shouldn't we be talking about football, and if not that, then can we at least talk trash?  This firefox talk is boring as hell.

Pick-em's are up for the week.  Please note that the Macalester game is 12:30 FRIDAY.  Any picks made after this time will not get credit for the Macalester game.

Thanks!

I agree - so here's some football talk -

A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.

"Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents."

Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?"

"Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!' I'm like....Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!

(If anyone happened to click on my youtube link and wondered why I picked that stupid clip instead of Monty Python, I change the link from that stupid clip to the proper one.)

Now we know why SJU wins:

"Another recent study suggests that referees favor red-clad competitors because of a subconscious bias for the color."

Not to be overly self-appreciating, but I wasn't out in left field when I broke this down yesterday...

As an update, if UST runs the table, UST would be 2-1 versus regionally ranked opponents-- and would be a very good candidate to sneak itself in to the playoffs as well.

And Northwestern?  Holy Crap.

That certainly underscores what an odd season this has been! ;) Don't forget, we still have the game of the century, Northwestern/USTD coming up on Nov 15th!
