If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I think any MIAC team is a long long "C" shot. W & J losing almost guarantees a spot for them, as does the OAC runner up. There are some North region teams that will have one regional loss only (Wittenberg) if they win out and another (Trine) if they lose to Adrian.

But, this DOES make scoreboard watching / listening a heck of a lot of fun up here, right?

What we really need is a Nate Silver-esque (he of 527.com and Baseball Prospectus) analysis of the final two weeks.

Concordia needs to take care of the ball.  5 turnovers against a the Oles, at home is unexcusable!  Not to mention the cobbers put the ball on the ground 5 times.  Can't come back to win a game playing like that.  Looks like the bandwagon is on the Johnnies, everybody hop on it's moving fast!

I agree completely.  5 turn-overs is what made us lose that game.  Many people started to duckout early but CobberNation got the crowd back into it, and then the team gave STO a run for their money at the end of the fourth quarter.  it was an exciting end to a very disappointing game.

Dont think that the bandwagon is at SJU quite yet.... cobbers still need to lose one more, as of right now they DO still controll their destiny.  GO COBBS

Wonder what's going on ... Frank's blog isn't on the Daily Planet sport page.  Actually, none of the blogs are, so it's not just Frank.  Never seen that before.

Ya gotta click around a bit to find the blogs... check along the right hand margin and click on blogs, scroll down and you'll see another link that says "more blogs"(I love the efficiency of the SCTimes..).  You'll see Frank and should be able to read his post from Saturday night.

What do you all think the odds of the O line coming out of this break ready, refreshed and looking brand spanking new are?  I've got an inkling that they will be looking mighty impressive compared to their previous play.  They played poorly in the early season, hung on in the mid-season and are in a position to close impressively and demonstrate that rare ability to stand tall when it's most needed.

On that, a thought has occurred to me (a surprise for many of you that I have these, I'm sure) that the coaches and players have done an OK job with this season, particularly when it was looking so bleak in those first five weeks.  Yes, yes, there may be a bit of rose colored glasses wearing going on here, but I am grateful we have two weeks to go and we're still in with a chance.  I didn't think that would be a possibility after the play earlier this year.  But the D has continued to stand up and the O has slowly improved to the point of getting enough to win three in a row.

Bottom line: the fellas have a chance to be really proud of this season, even if the anti-chi bandwagon fails to bring down the other MIAC rivals.  (And, yes, all the recruiting complaints don't go away, but all things being equal I'm really looking forward to these next two weeks.)

Oh, and it's the Melbourne Cup tomorrow.  It's known as "The Race That Stops a Nation."  We actually get a public holiday in Melbourne for a horse race.  Not too bad.

Of course, some of the best bits of the Spring Racing Carnival have nothing to do with horses...

EDIT: And, in case you care, the first philly at the gate is Twiggley, or something similarly stupid, a girlfriend of an Aussie Rules player.  The second two are Jennifer Hawkins, the Australian Ms Universe from a couple years ago, and Megan Gale, some Aussie model who spends a lot of time in Italy looking gorgeous and getting rich.  I have no idea who the last contestant is, but she's a worthy starter, no?

EDIT II:  At the third post position is Tara Moss.  A model and writer.  Obviously a writer.

I think you'll be able to handle Carleton at "the Jake" but I think you should probably be worried about GAC in St. Peter.  They are pumped about having a chance at the post-season and I would think that they want their coach to got into the playoffs for the first time during his 10 year tenure.  They're a pretty hot team.  Sorry.  I like the Cobblers but I got to cheer for GAC against you guys.  If CC still wins out, I'll get on the bandwagon then like a did in 2004.   ;)

And 'Wild Australia' continues with this latest installment from a Cairns backyard...

"Python makes a meal of cockatoo in Clifton Beach backyard"

First it was a giant spider eating a bird, now a python has been snapped making a meal of a sulphur-crested cockatoo.
