Isn't there a UMAC board? ???

Tmert, that board is in theory only, one cannot even go on there and stir things up, it has been idle since my attempt to do so almost a month ago.  If Pat still needs space he may want to consider taking it down.  Most conference in-game boards have more action on them.

Well aware, bob - which makes it the perfect place for AO.  I guarantee there will be more people on that board who are interested in his patter than there are here.

Do Johnnie or Tommie fans feel any natural support for the other catholic colleges in the state?  namely, Scholastica.
Not me. But I'm a big fan of Northwestern. Do you think they'll make the playoffs this year?
alright, that makes two in the bandwagon!  Plenty o' room in the back if you're for Northwestern or against the Tommies!

Always againt the Tom Cats.  Go Eagles.

I can't believe I just typed that.  Better double check my meds.

Any predictions for the attendance at Laird Stadium on Saturday?
Will it be filled?

I remember getting a whole lot of negative Karma for asking a very similar question.

Sure, that's why.

I don't really care about negative Karma.

What I do care about is if the Johnnies will travel really well and if the Knight fans will come out for a game that has happened how many times....well.....pretty much never in the history of their institution.
Should be fun.

retagent

Since the Tommie/Northwestern tilt has nothing to do with what happens to SJU, there's no reason to cheer for the T-T-T-Tommies. As a matter of fact, if NW wins, it could mean a weaker team in the West Region Playoffs, actually helping St John's if they TCB this Saturday.

As for fans in attendance supporting the Knights, I am really curious to hear what the turn out is. Carleton doesn't usually get a high turn out from students (& it happens to be a week before finals; trimesters), but then again the football team has never been this good in recent history. With both soccer teams in the NCAAs, excitement about Carleton sports could be at an all time high among non-athletes.

Another factor for Knight fan attendance (could be the same with SJU) could be the fact that a large portion of alumni that follow knights football/sports, like myself,  live in other parts of the country. Thank heavens for the video feed.

However, I would expect a decent showing from spectators that don't really have an allegiance to either school but are interested in seeing the MIAC championship. It is a pretty intriguing match up for anyone that knows a thing or two about MIAC football.

Another interesting side note, if Carleton does win, the football team will have a playoff game right smack dab in the middle of finals. They are usually Saturday-Monday of next wknd.

Your praise of Arlt reminds me of praise for Ryan Hoag...yea nice receiver, but when faced with playing the best team in the conference he didn't do much.  I am surprised that you left Fritz W. out...that guy scares me more than Arlt, or Hameed.  Carleton has great WR's and running QB's have given SJU fits...

What? Where is this coming from? Were you even at the game when GAC played SJU?

He went for 141 and a touchdown on seven receptions in eight passes thrown his way...and your fellow SJU posters were wondering why the Gusties didn't throw to him more. He was basically uncoverable by a very good Johnnie defense.

I understand the Hoag argument, but I'm not sure how you can even begin to try to apply it here.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Knight--this is Division III football and as a result playoff games through the Stagg Bowl often overlap with finals.  Your squad would hardly be the first one that has had to crack the books while preparing for playoff games.

Wonka--many of us at the GAC game would concur with VOJ's assessment of Arlt.  His stats for the game don't show the complete picture of his impact on the game; which was not much.  He was irrelevent for the majority of the game.

AO--you could be responsible for world peace and members of this board would still hit your karma because you come across as the kid that was never given enough credit for pooping like a big boy.  Go back to your game of Dungeons and Dragons.

BTW--I am on business in Portland this week and would encourage the fans of teams headed this direction for the playoffs to load up on the GoreTex gear.  The constant rain has lead to severe flooding with Noah parked right around the corner.

Wonka,

Think about what VOJ might stand for.

Touchdown Tommy might give you a hint if you call him in the next couple of hours.

I'm beat and heading home, but before I go, I'll post this link to the Carleton live video.  Bookmark it for reference on Saturday.

I'll cross post this on the MIAC updates thread so we don't lose it in the crazy posts we do here.
