WW 41   SJU 0

Please... at least humor us a little bit...  keep this up and you'll have no one to drink with Saturday.

As if that is a deterrent.  I suspect that may actually be flash's intent - eliminate the need to share.  :D

Oh, and because it is so rare that I get a chance to say "I told you so" (being I've been married for over 15 years now almost all of that pride has been beaten out of me), I'll take this opportunity to say "I told you so."

"The Johnnies got 25 votes in the d3football.com Top 25 and the Knights got 20.  I reckon the winner finishes the season ranked 24th or 25th.  Oh, and in the playoffs, of course."

The Top 25 are out and the Johnnies are 24th.

Told you so.  (just had to squeeze one more out.  Who knows when I'll get another opportunity.)

It will be a great time trucking out to Whitewater again.  At least we're all getting one more game but it is going to be hard to be sanguine about the prospects of a Johnnie victory this year.  UWW is still going to be tough despite all of their new faces.   The qualification would be if the Johnnie offense continues to play in the 5th dimension a la the last 50 seconds of last weekend's games.  They have been in the playoffs all year, really.  Win or lose, it has been a character-building year and it's been a year in which SJU was head-knocking each game with much improved MIAC teams.

Nice article in the SC Times, "St. John's ready to take on champion Whitewater."

I found this humorous:

Quote
"They have a different coach than they did the last time we played them," said St. John's coach John Gagliardi, whose team is making its 10th postseason appearance in the past 11 seasons. "We have the same coach. So that gives them a bit of an advantage. They have a better idea of what to expect from us."

And thank God for that.

Congrats to the Jonnies on making the playoffs and winning the MIAC.

Incredible game on Saturday at Laird Stadium.

I do not think there was any question that these were the two best teams in the conference matching up.  The Johnnie D was as good as advertised.  Seeing that stadium packed like it was in something I never would have thought to see when attending games these last four years.

Could not believe it when a St. Johns student started screaming profanities directly in the face of one of my family members (who was holding my 3 year old god daughter) after St. Johns scored.  Then proceeded to ask said family member while holding little girl if he wanted to fight "because Carleton sucks and the Johnnies rule"    Also the people screaming 26-0 running up and down the track was ridiculous, but it is definitely a sign that Carleton is now recognized as a true threat and not a door mat any longer.  I wouldn't expect anything less from the student Johnnie faithful.  Always a few bad eggs that have to ruin it for everyone.  Can't make this generalizatoin of all things Johnnie, but acts like this make it tough not to have a sour taste in your mouth.

For not having a QB all season Boyle was a heck of a player for the johnnies... He was very mobile and looked almost impossible to wrap up at times.  Also, the two interceptions he threw in the end zone were no where near his fault.  I didn't see who the receiver was on those two plays, but the receiver has to make a play on that ball.  1 on 1 coverage both times and the receiver didn't get any where close to making a play on the ball both times.  Best receiver on the johnnies team was the RB who was also an incredible playmaker.  Pretty interesting that Carleton probably has 4 receivers and 1 TE that are all better receivers than any of the Johnnie wide outs.  How can you not find a legitimate receiver out of all the kids they put on those sidelines during games?

Now on to the Knights... What a fun season to watch.  Frank, Ziller, Henfling, and the rest of the players posted unbelievable years.  There were no better players in the conference this year than those three.  They made every game exciting to watch and continually willed their team to wins week in and week out.

Knights will be back stronger than ever next year.  I would think Ramler has a shot to put together a very impressive recruiting class this year.  They will definitely need to find some new leaders on this team.  (there will be 0 seniors on next years team)  There was no recruiting class the year Ramler took over due to the timing of the coaching change.  Players will step up and wins # 27, 28, and 29 will be tougher than ever for the Johnnies...

Good luck to the Johnnies next week.  If there's one thing that I dislike more than the Johnnies it's all things WIAC.  Take it to em.

IF you think that is bad, then you have never been to Linfield.  And just to add to it all, it's mostly men from 30-70 years of age yelling profanities!  The college kids are actually not to bad.

Cobbernation,

Yeah, we've got one old coot who does that, but please don't paint all of us with the same brush. Most of us at the Catdome are fairly civilized.
Two words:  THE STREAK

I want SJU to kick some Poon this week so I can see all my buddies at Willamette....(whoops, I guess Willamette has to win first...forgot about that)     :D

Then it must have been OK for the large group of "Cheerboys" to run all the way around the track  behind the Johnnies bench after the Carleton TD. You must have missed that. Oh, I am sure all they were doing was shouting words of encouragement to the players. I guess I we should thank them for the kind words about not giving up. As was obvious they did not give up.
Thanks Cheerboys! 26-0 and counting.

It was a good game and as the saying goes "a shame someone had to loose." Carleton has a lot to be proud of.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!
