Congrats, Cobbers, on a great season, and on the game today. You gave us all we could handle, and really put the pressure on us.

Two words:  THE STREAK

heywood220

as a WW student i just want to say that the SJU fans were outstanding at the game.  they were by far the best opposing fans i have seen in WW in my four years here.  i personally was hoping for an epic of a game, even though that didnt happen the Johnnies should be proud of what they have done this year and finally to all the Johns fans no fans in D3 compare to you(and thats coming from a hardcore WW fan)

I hope that the SJU fans felt the same of the WW fans, i also hope these two teams can hook up in the future cause i think both sides feel that a rematch either home or away for either team would be great for those who are watching!!!

Sure be great if you could get out to McMinnville, Ryan.

'Cats Fa Natic

I see we have a number of 'Cats already over here to extend their good wishes.  You can be proud of your team, they fought very hard and much better than I had expected going into this game.  I was surprised to see you have a very young team on the offensive side of the ball with a lot of sophomores. I expect the Cobbers to come back bigger and stronger next year. Your time may be coming.

If there's any knock on your team, it's that I did not see good half-time adjustments and that may be something for you to look at in the off-season. You seemed determined to run that ball-control, slow-it-down offense, even when you were down two scores. That's a good scheme but only if you're solidly in control of the game with a comfortable lead, not when you're down one score and then two scores with under five minutes to go. But that's just my opinion and I only offer it for your consideration.

I feel badly for those hardy souls who took that dreadful 27-hour bus ride out only to have to trudge back there with a loss under their belt. I'm sure the return drive will feel like a 40-hour ride. I've been on the losing end of games like that, so my heart goes out to them.

Great game, far better and closer than what I'd expected. You can be proud of your accomplishments and your players who did their best.
{Clever sign-off goes here.}

I sure wish I hadn't bought that plane ticket to Milwaukee at halftime yesterday. I guess I'll just spend the weekend at the Miller brewery since there won't be a game in WW.

Awesome game. I've listened to 9 of the Cobbers 12 games on the internet and yesterday topped them all. I think my screaming may actually have been heard all the way from the east coast after the Cobbs went up 14-7. I'm awful proud of the seniors for keeping us in it as long as they did. Those guys graduate with 35 wins under their belt, a Concordia record. Great season, great careers, great finish.

Now it's time for Rodel, Thoreson, and the gang to push us to the next level!

Congrats to both the Johnnies and Cobbers on great seasons.  Too bad they had to end so quickly.  I am now officially on the Linfield bandwagon.  I'll have my Wildcats shirt on next Saturday.  Here's my take on the game at WW:

It was by far the poorest outing for SJU in a long time.  It reminded me a lot of the St. Olaf game last year.  It really didn't look like they showed up today.

Offense:  Kofoed looked horrible, like mentioned.  He started off okay but got real sloppy with his throws.  The WR's looked alright for the most part, but there were some big missed catches.  The RB's didn't seem to be able to hang onto the ball at all, although I thought Lofboom haad a decent game.  The o-line looked overmatched.  Losing Mathiason looked like it really hurt them.

Defense:  Early on, the defense looked good against the run.  Once they started passing, though, it looked as if our defensive backs had never seen a forward pass before.  WW has some good (and fast) receivers and the QB throws a nice ball.  The d-line struggled to get pressure on the QB, too, which made it even worse.  WW's o-line looked good at pass-blocking.  The LB's, I thought, played pretty well.

Special Teams:  Horrendous.  Two fumbled punts?  And the punter looks like crap.  Enough said.

All in all, WW is a good team, but I would have liked to see SJU actually play like they can because this was a very winnable game for SJU.  I really don't see WW beating Linfield next weekend.

Heywood, thanks for the kind words.  Unfortunately, there were some real assholes from the Whitewater side that ruined my opinion of your fans.  It's fine to be exicted about a win, but have some grace.  There is no need to talk **** after the game in the parking lot.  One of my favorties was a man in his 50s who felt it necessary to walk through the parking lot screaming "Go to the john, Johnnies" at us.  Get a clue, buddy.  Nice facilities, though.  It's a nice place to play.  Too bad you can't fill it up.

In the stands, there was a lot of complaining about officiating.  From a non-biased view, I thought they did a pretty good job.  They didn't call holding on either team, and there was a lot going both ways, so that evens out.  They really had no effect on the game.

One last rant.  #48 for SJU committed the personal foul the occured on a kick-off just before WW ran in the fumble for a TD right in front of me.  That was uncalled for.  When you're getting your ass beat and you feel it necessary to taunt an opponent, that shows a lack of class and maturity.  I really feel the ref should have tossed him for that ****.

Thanks to JR, Veek and ROR for a great tailgate.
I have not seen SJU play they poorly in the playoffs since '91 in Dayton, where they had that many turnovers. Looked the coaching staff took the week off-how can you not be ready to play?
UWW-very good team. They appeard to be a half step quicker than SJU has seen this year.
Should be a good game next week-good luck to both teams.

SJU92#57

Had to hold my comments until I got some sleep and had my emotions straight. As Duff said, SJU played like ****. I think they loaded up the prep-school team. The only one who showed up for the game was Dumo. He was doubled on almost every play.  Also, JOHN, please STOP letting Jimmy call plays. Other obsevations, WW-fans for the most part, decent, overheard alot of talk while standing in 30min. line. Opposing teams fan bleachers absolutley SUCK, ever heard of steps. Only one neg. comment, anybody know the MORON in Vikings outfit stading by fence on SJU side? If you are a SJU fan, please do not come to any more games. There is a fine line between being a fan and being an asshole and you showed the difference. thats all I got for now....

Oh yea-Duffman is correct, he is the champ of the 16 oz shotgun. :D

...thanks ROR. Sounds like WW is tough. Johnnies had a rare "off" day. So, if we can beat WW you will be a Wildcat Fan?    ;D

Blue,

What makes you think I'm not already a Wildcat fan?   ;D
