How much longer do we have to wait for the so-and-so said they would attend the such-and-such MIAC school?  The grid iron doldrums are starting to drive me batty.

In other news Mrs. Oz and I managed to get out and see a movie.  We viewed Gran Turino (correct spelling).  I found that despite the predictable storyline that the characters were engaging and the use of the young priest as an effective plot device in adding depth to Eastwood's character was engaging.  Heavy movie, but enjoyable.

So how desperate do I appear to drum up some sort of conversation?

Oz:
Here's a little tease for you from:
http://www.hopkinsfootball.org/WhatsNew08.html

Alex Powell, CB/WR: St. John's University (4.5 speed or better...yes Johnnie fans I said 4.5 speed...played mostly corner but also can be a threat at WR...I predict he'll play as a freshman, is also a baseball player and played basketball through 10th grade)
Max Forster, WR: St. John's University (could see some time down the road...was the 3rd or 4th option for the Royals as they were loaded with wide-outs.)
Anthony Retica, DL: St. John's University (could be decent D-end down the road....really hustles and works hard)

Speed? :o  It's about time.

Next best thing about that list ... no Tommies!  (or Royals, or Gusties, or Cobbers, or Oles ... )

Last I heard was that Powell was getting some football scholarship $$ from UMD (DII Champs).  Not sure what changed but he is an athlete and a very bright kid.

I was told by someone that Powell doesn't want to play football, just baseball  That would explain not going to UMD.  Sorry OZ....Maybe Coach Haugen can change his mind.

"Saltwater crocodile eats shark with one gulp"

The croc went head-to-head with the shark last week only metres from a boatload of surprised fishermen.

Craig Van Lawick was aboard the commercial barramundi vessel on the Wildman River 100km east of Darwin when the croc started devouring the one-metre shark, The Northern Territory News reports.

EDIT:  Moral of the story - if you're a bit hot when out fishing, don't take a dip in the water.  Consider a cool drink instead.  'Cause if the sharks don't eat you, the salties will.

That wasn't a fair fight.  What a bully that croc was, picking on that baby shark.  Didn't it see Jaws 2?  Mama is lurking out there somewhere!

This could be a new contest for next year's Stiftungsfestivities! You will all just need to be careful not to spill beer on your new homemade jerseys! ;) ;D

And speaking of team apparel, one of my friends just gave me this. http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1926529&clickid=body_rv_img
Much to everyone's amusement, I wore during last Sunday's game and let me tell you, the hat has mojo!! The Jackets beat the Red Wings 8-2 and Rick Nash had a hat trick and all three goals were unassisted!! ;D I wonder if I slap a homemade SJU sticker on the side it will work during football season? ;)

Snoop, don't feel too bad about TDT's karma distribution, mine took a hit too. 8)

TDT doesn't like you?  Well, if there was one thing a condemned man could do to ensure he got no stay from the gallows, it would be to show some bad karma luvin' to bennie.

Well, a guy's gotta relax a bit once in a while.  Step away from football for a year maybe and then find that one tends to miss using blinding speed, particularly when that blinding speed can be used to reiterate how much Tommies suck.  Because, in the end, that's the important point that cannot be forgotten.

Silly me, and all along I thought that negative karma was a sign of friendship and distinction from the ordinary and mundane.

flash has been spending some time in the United Kingdom, apparently.

"For sale: One nagging wife, some rust"

"Nagging Wife. No Tax, No MOT (roadworthy certificate). Very high maintenance - some rust," wrote Gary Bates [Smart use of a common sounding British name, flash. - Oz], 38, in a small ad in Trade-It, more usually used to buy and sell cars or household goods...

The couple married only last year, and Mr Bates said his 40-year-old [!!! - Oz] wife - whom he advertised in the magazine's Free to Collect section, along with some of his fishing tackle - initially gave him "a bit of an ear-bashing".

It's in the paper, so it must be true...

"Horse goes nuts, then takes a bite"

AN Indonesian villager had to be rushed to hospital after a horse bit off one of his testicles during a freak attack.
