Congrats Cobbers,
Your boys played a perfect first half.  Just as all of you on the board described they would.  Your QB was athletic, broke off some nice runs and had a decent touch in the air.  As for your D--They were able to bring pressure and cover the deep ball threat of the Cats all day.  All in all it was a great game to watch.
   Props to the Cobbers

Thanks Gig,  All I wanted this whole time was a little respect from you in perticular.  Thanks for a great game Cats.

I always have respect for those that play the game.  The cycle is to hit it pretty heavy on the board game week,  but always be early on the board post game to give props where they are due.

So, yeah...  SJU turns in a game like that, what, every decade or so?  I can handle that.  Congrats to the Whitewaters.  Good luck the rest of the way.

Sounds like the Corncobbers put quite a scare in Linfield.  Well played.  The bottom of the MIAC may be weak, but it looks like our top two can play with anyone  (errr, most Saturdays...).

Nice turnout by the Red in Whitewater.  We may not have outnumbered them, but the fact that it was even brought up as a possibility is saying something.

Probably the best Johnnie performance of the day was Duffman, as he took down the shotgunning championship--Milwaukee's Best Ice 16 oz.-style.  It may not have been a monkeystomp, but it was convincing.

The WW Athletic building adjacent to the stadium is very nice--great displays of past teams and awards.  Never head of the "Gadliardo" trophy, though.  Must be a Wisconsin thing.

SJU graduates a bunch of big names on defense and the o-line, but I'm sure there's a bunch of big names we haven't heard of ready to take their places.  Hopefully this game is a little bit of a wakeup call regarding the carelessness with the ball, but I'm excited to see what kind of numbers Kofoed, Gearman, Lofboom, Luberts, Haugen, Royce-Diop, Keating, et al can put up next year.   Any word on if Jamie Steffensmeier is coming back?

Ah well, looks like AO gets the last laugh after all...

Thanks to Johnnie Red for all his work putting on tailgate parties the entire year.
Thanks to Johnnie Esq. the Elder for putting together a great bus trip.
It is always nice to meet & great posters & fans at the tailgate parties & at games. As noted before, Johnnie fans travel very well & always have a great time!

Thoughts on the game. You don't make that many turnovers & win come play off time.

Sr's, you have a National Championship to be proud of.Underclassmen, you have another year or two to earn one of your own.

There are some holes that need to be filled by graduation, but I'm sure the johnnies will be just fine.

Great job by the Cobbers. You have another season that you can be proud of.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Cobbers,

Concordia played a great 1st half.    Linfield played a great 2nd half.

Congrats to the Cobbers.     You were clearly the best team we faced this year.

Your fans were classy.    We look forward to meeting you again, maybe next year?

GO CATS, GO!

QuoteI get the next two weeks off and then to Salem.

Sure be great if you could get out to McMinnville, Ryan.

Sure thing Den, but the trip would kill me. My back needs the time off before Salem or I won't be able to stand upright.

But we shan't discuss such things here. :)

To any interested Johnny fan-

I usually spend most of my time on the MWC board and have read a lot of back and forth bwt. Johnnie and St. Norbert fans about sportsmenship in previous years.  Johnnie fans have always stood by their opinion that SJU is a great place with great players, coaches, fans, etc.  Furthermore, they more often than not conclude by saying that St. Norbert players, coaches, and fans are whinners, poor sports, etc.  I was at the game in Whitewater yesterday and was surprised at the final outcome.  Now on the drive home, I was listening to the post game on KOOL 106.5 FM.  One reporter asked Gagliardi about the "blowout."  To my surprise, Gagliardi got sort of defensive about that term saying that it was not a blowout.  He even refered to the Monmouth game to provide an example of a "blowout."  The same game that so many SJU fans commented on the MWC board as a "heck of an effort by the Scots."  Well, which is it?  Even though technically, the Johnnies were in the game until the end of the third quarter, I would consider yesterday's game a blowout.  To make a long story short, I would like to see the whole SJU family be consistent when winning or losing before they come onto the MWC board ranting and raving about how others should act.  I saw plenty of pouters on the SJU side yesterday when things were not going well.  Not trying to start an Internet fight here, just want to see what you think.

OK here goes - I know a few guys on the Cobbs '78 team and they claim it was an eerily similar situation that they were in back then compared to the one tomorrow.  No one gave Concordia a chance.  That being said, and with the hope of a little cobber magic, my prediction and a repeat of history:

Cobbs 28, Linfield 27

Good luck to both teams - and I hope for a fun safe game on both sides of the ball.

Go Cobbers!

And same goes for the Johnnies.  Give em hell.

Sorry about supporting my team.  I guess I'll never root for an underdog again.

Start worrying about next week - you beat us, so congrats and the WIAC board awaits you.
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Congrats to the Warhawks and the Wildcats on their wins yesterday. To the Johnnies and Cobbers, great seasons in the MIAC and getting to the second round of the national playoffs. Good to see that the Cobbers showed up for their game at Linfield. Need I say more about the Johnnies? Probably not. :-[

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Stiftungsfestivities this year and the donations. Yesterday's turnout was impressive.

Enjoyed Whitewater community, campus and football stadium very much. Voice, nice to meet you.

Congrats to the Gusties for their national runner-up finish in men's soccer yesterday.

Congrats to the Johnnies! You had a great season!

Cobbers, what can I say? I am glad that I drove up to watch the game yesterday! You had an amazing first half, it is just too bad that the second half did not go as well. Great game, great players, great fans and a great season! I enjoyed cheering for you!  :)

It is important to learn to be a gracious loser, but even more important to learn how to be a gracious winner. Too bad you didn't learn that lesson! Posts like this combined with what I have seen in person from Linfield fans are the reasons why I will be pulling for WW next week! Totally uncouth! >:(

Duffman, thanks for the support. Would you have been able to make it out this way if the Johnnies would have won? Sorry about your game against UWW, I was hoping for a Johnnie win. Too bad the Johnnies couldn't hang onto the ball. It almost cost us yesterday, too.

Seems the J's are a year away? Gag's team should be tough next year. Someone said Concordia is pretty young, too. Sounds like there might be two great teams coming out of the MIAC again next season.

bennie, sorry you ran into some dorks at the game. There's some at every school and we are no exception. I hope you won't lump us all in that group.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Mr.Shoes

I don't really have anything to add about that "game" yesterday than that which has already been said. The Johnnies embarrassed themselves and the Warhawks were more than willing to help out with the embarrassing. I firmly believe that the Js and 'Hawks could play a dozen more games and they'd all be within 10 points. Unfortunately, yesterday wasn't one of those games and as best as I could tell, only one team showed up. *sigh* I guess it happens to everyone at some point.

Congrats to the Warhawks. You creamed us. The purple showdown in McMinneville ought to be quite a game. I'm going to have to pull for the 'Cats, though. Cheering for Wisconsin is just too painful ;)
Nice day, huh?

Vikes playing decent today....Wow!

Pro football is definietly not as fun to follow as D3 Football.

Here's a question to Pat C.

Pat,  it seems that you have not had much respect towards Concordia recently. Comments about last season's play-off performance, and predictions of    55ish  to 10 for yesterday's game.  What gives? Is there something that just rubs you the wrong way about the Cobbs?  Everyone's got a right to their opinion, I am just wondering
