jdean,

I don't think that Linfield fans (including myself) should be worried about anything beyond this Saturday.  The Warhawks are legit and the 'Cats better have their claws sharp.

However, it is good to see that MUC has had two bye weeks to start the playoffs. ;)

Hey George, you say that 98% of your fans are classy? Well they must not have all shown up for the game then.  There were more than 2% of you behind our bench yelling at our players and coaches.  It's sad to see forty or fifty year old men disrespecting div III football players like they were.  I can understand it if it were drunk college students but that wasn't the case here.  I'm not saying that all of your fans are disrespectful either, because I know better than that. I have read and heard numerous comments that were positive of the cobbs. I just think that the percentage of your fans that are not cheering but disrespecting is more like 25% rather than 2%.

Good luck in the next round.  You guys are a great football team.

Bummer about the game.   I was geared up for a better showing.  On to next year.

Speaking of year, what are the Cobb's outlook without Schooooie?  What does the hier look like?

PS - Also thanks to rugerrat and his assistant (daughter?) for sending me updates when I was unable to follow the Cobber game.

Cobber fans - There are terrible fans wherever you go. Even the classiest fans get lost in the shuffle when one or two knuckleheads start acting up. I know SJU had more than a few during my playing days, but I've still come to enjoy the company of most of the posters on here - excluding TDT of course, though I am enjoying taking his fantasy football money right now :)

If what The Godfather, Duff and most of the other SJU posters is true, I've got to believe the majority of the Linfield fans are classy and good people. It's unfortunate none of them were around to put their brethren in their place when all that was taking place. It sounds like some stupid stuff happened afterwards and people are especially sensitive after a loss that ends your season :(
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

The group of 40-50 year olds I think you are referring to were recently discussed on the NWC board and are an embarrassment. Occassionally I'll walk over to the visitors sidelines and I think I know who you are talking about. They are either ripping the other team or ripping the Linfield playcalling. But seriously, we all know what kind of people (who aren't college age) choose to hang out behind a visiting team to heckle them (or criticize their team's offense when they are putting up 50 a game) rather than mingle with their own fans and really take in the game - losers. The group I am thinking of is probably less than a dozen (although they probably sound louder). With around 4,000 people in attendance, that's a pretty small percentage, even if you throw in a few more knuckleheads.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

As you see....I was not at the game Pat.

Why am I now involved in your discussion, dense?

Since the comment was made here I'll reply here.
"Don't lose any sleep over MUC. If Mount makes it to VA, and that's a pretty big IF, they shouldn't present much of an obstacle for the Cats."

Enjoy the victory but it seems to me you're the one who is sitting home with no place to go. Tell me Salem in Dec doesn't sound good. Probably never gave it a thought.

After all it was 22 years since the last time you beat the Raiders.
22 years Pretty amazing!
Probably will be the same till the next one too.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Just wanted to add my congratulations to UWW.  My thoughts on the game yesterday:

1) UWW played to their potential; SJU seemed to sort of expect to walk through the motions to win.  Seemed like a real lack of effort on our part.  We didn't deserve to win.

2) After every play, Kofoed looked to the sideline, as if he were awaiting something...  But as we saw, nothing ever happened.  I don't know if he were awaiting Jimmy's call, or was afraid of a wrath, but it seemed a bit odd.

3) Momentum really dropped on Diop's fumble.

4) SJU line looked lost on numerous UWW blitzes.  Not to be excluded, SJU receivers forgot to help Kofoed on the blitz either, though.

5) SJU d-backs were a step slow all day-- between Zauhar who looked like his hip was hurting and Schoenberg, who reacted instaid of anticipated, SJU did not get it done.

6) I thought the refs were inconsistent.  But it didn't really matter in this one.

7) Perkins is a nice facility which apparently gets few visitors, and the bathrooms need help.

8.) Congrats to Concordia on a great fight in McMinnville, and to Linfield and UWW-- best wishes and win the West!

Hmmmm..........developing.  Mount loses to SJU when Mount plays one of their less than sterling games, and SJU plays their game of the century.  The next  year Mount loses to MHB on a hail mary, get lucky, here we go pass.  All of a sudden Mount is "overrated".  Mount is "done".  The run is "over".

Yet, SJU follows up their Stagg Bowl victory with a 7-3 (sorry for your luck) season, and then loses HUGE to UWW.  Sooooo.....the question is.....are they "done"?  Are they "over"?  Is the Gags "God is on our side" kharma over?

This type of post is definitely at your own expense.

Thanks for all the OHC humility. The '01 Johnnies probably played another 'Game of the Century' in the Championship then too, huh? Even though they lost 10-7, who'd have ever thought it would have come down to a last second field goal? So it happens that MU played three 'less than sterling games' in the last few years then? A Hail Mary is one of the easiest plays in the game to defend, if you can't defend it you deserve to go home. Oh and take the woulda, coulda, shoulda with you.

Sorry Charlie, SJU beat MU in '03 because of heart and coaching. Blake Elliot with a pulled hamstring, remember that? How about Jake Thiess' run before the half?? If you don't have the heart to play like a champion in the Championship game then you don't deserve to win. Period. Quit making excuses for a game that's approaching two years old now.

The run was over. MU has a shot this year if they can get through to the big game. WW or the Cats will be waiting though.

Oh, and Gags magic is still on. Sophomore QB still shows promise and learned a good lesson last weekend. He'll mature because of it. Anytime you come off a 7-3 season where you lost all three games by a total of 5 points with a freshman QB you've done well. If I'm not mistaken SJU was 11-1 this year. Isn't that an improvement from '04? Hmmm. MU lost in the Championship game in '03 then couldn't get there in '04. Sounds like someone's lost a step in that respect, but this season's still pending.

Ok, here we go. First, SJUumpire, "thanks" for ripping WW on the WIAC board. Not cool. Brez says the game was "the biggest win in WW history", which I would consider about the ultimate compliment possible to SJU, and you make fun of it?

Otherwise, thanks for some of the nicer posts.

In one sense, I'm not happy I met some of you guys, because now you know I'm a big bs'er and I can't get away with being the grumpy old man stuff anymore.

Duff, sorry you had some jerk mess with you on the way out, or any other "bad" experiences anyone had. I guess every team has a few like that. Would have been cool if you'd have decked him!! Sorry to here you are rooting for the Cats. Couldn't change  your mind with an official WW coaches hat could I?

I have a strong feeling we will be playing eachother again next year, and I should be able to get up to one of your home games next year when I'm visiting my daughter in Hastings.

Happy and safe holidays to you all

A WW hat may convince me ;)  PM me.

I wouldn't deck a drunk, old man.  It's just pathetic that 1) he's living vicariously through a d3 team and 2) instead of being happy for a good victory for his team, he has to be an ass to the opponent.

Oh well, there are bad apples in every bunch.

Oldpa,

I hate WW and will be pulling for Linfield big time.   ;)

For the rest of you,

I met Oldpa on Sat.  He is one of the most sour people I have ever met.  Don't believe a word he says in his post above.  ;)  Except for the first paragraph, the grumpy one.  I agree with that part.

I think Oldpa was a member of the band in Blues Brothers.  Sax player, I think.  Good excuse to watch the movie again and pick him out.
