warthog,

johnnie_esq said it best in a landmark MIACPP post about 2 years ago.

And I quote:

"Beer + Hockey = Good."

I think that pretty well sums up the situation.

I agree soccer is boring to watch. There a fewer shots on goal and they seem to be far and few between.  In hockey even though you don't have as much actual scoring as in basketball or football, you at least have attempts to score, shots on goal.

The end of game 7 of the series was one of the most exciting I have seen.  I admit I only watch the Pens while in playoffs but after this series, I will be watching more.

Playoff hockey is the best to watch.  I swear there were times in the third period of Game 7 where there were literally 5+ minutes going buy without a whistle.  The referees really let them play!

Pretty slow for reading material around here. I've been forced to read the Iowa board the last week or so.  Reminds me of the guy driving through Iowa and sees a sign "world's largest frying pan"....  he says, way to do your F-ing part Iowa.

Gah!  Iowa jokes.  The only thing worse than Iowa jokes is Iowa itself... :o

I have a duty to produce some material and avoid the inevitable "What's the best thing to come out of Iowa?" line, so here are some entertaining links ("I'll be the judge of that," I hear flash say):

"Gerrit Blank survives meteorite hit"

A YOUNG boy will be his mates' hero for a long time after survivng a direct hit by a meteorite, travelling at nearly 50,000 kilometers per hour...

The  meteorite bounced off his hand and left a foot-wide smouldering crater in the tarmac. Gerrit was on his way to school when he spotted the fireball hurtling towards him out of the sky.

"Bill Turner rides zebra to the pub"

A FORMER horse trainer has broken in a zebra so he can ride it to the pub...

"He loves being ridden and it means I don't have to worry about being breathalysed," he said.

Breaking news!  We have a picture of Bill Turner and the zebra...

(Turner is the one without the stripes)

I gotta admit, that's the big highlight of my day.

Now THAT is an exciting day! :P

On the other hand, it probably tops my day too. :(

The little league team I sponsor started out 3-0.

We are now 3-4. I better fire the coach.

Oh wait. That's me.  :-[

BDB - Do you remember a guy by the name of Adam Zerba playing hockey at Stout a few years back?

Engelberg: You're not supposed to have open liquor in the car. It's against the law.
Coach BDB: So is murder, Engleberg. Now put that back before you get me in real trouble.

I do remember him. I don't believe we ever met though.

Just remember BDB, when you're winning, it's superior coaching and execution. When you're losing, you just don't have the players.

Nice Twins game last night, despite the fact that it started with the introduction of the Tommies baseball team. JK-always nice to see some walnut and bronze. Coach Denning one-hopped his ceremonial pitch to home. Sheesh, who throws BP for these guys?

Zerba plays in the Adult "B" league that I play in in Janesville. He's a very good, fast player, but a bit of a goof - in a good way. He sometimes wears his Stout jersey, so I wondered.
