and a defensive coach at that, so extra slow typing is required for him to keep up

This from someone who imagines football as played by Nancy men prancing about in short shorts and tank tops

Gah!  Iowa jokes.  The only thing worse than Iowa jokes is Iowa itself... :o

#1 son's godmother was from Davenport, so I asked her what they called pretty women in Iowa?  The answer, of course, is "tourists."

Clark and his buddies were discussing an upcoming fishing trip. Unfortunately, Clark had to tell them that he couldn't go this time because his wife wouldn't let him. After a lot of teasing and name calling, Clark headed home, frustrated.

The following week when Clark's buddies arrived at the lake to set up camp, they were shocked to see Clark. He was already sitting at the campground with a cold beer, swag rolled out, fishing rod in hand, and a camp fire glowing.

"How did you talk your wife into letting you go, Clark?"

"I didn't have to," Clark replied. "Last week when I left our meeting, I went home and slumped down in my chair with a beer to drown my sorrows. Then she snuck up behind me and covered my eyes and said, 'Surprise'."

"When I peeled her hands back she was standing there in a beautiful see-through negligee and she said, 'Carry me into the bedroom and tie me to the bed and you can do whatever you want!'

"So, HERE I AM!!"

You're gonna get an icy stare at the first game, Fins.  Not from me, though. ;)

I ate a lot of great fish this past week in Maui but, despite a couple of days snorkeling, didn't try to catch any. :-[  I still haven't had anything better than the fresh walleye we caught last summer in the Quetico. 8)

So there I was in the Hula Grill in Ka'anapali wearing my "Collegeville" t-shirt, and in the space of 10 minutes two different gentlemen asked if it referred to some town in ... Pennsylvania! Hunh? ???  Turns out there is some town (a "borough" actually - though I thought that was a hole in the ground made by certain members of the rodent family) outside Philadelphia that shares the name.  They said there is some school called Ursinus there (it's a small college named after a 16th-century German theologian who was an important figure in the Protestant Reformation; not a Benedictine apparently).

I looked up Ursinus the German theologian (actually born Wroclaw Poland).

Wikipedia actually mentions the universities of Wittenberg and Heidleberg (not the D-III's tho').

Sorry to interject with some actual MIAC football talk...but perhaps it will satisfy the UST coach for a few days until I'm able to gather more material  :P

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Come on, you hunyucks!  WW is carrying the load.  (For the Tommie:  that... means... he... is... posting... football... content...)

On the article:  sounds like the cultural recipe for success at GAC.  With any luck, they'll be able to organize the bus ride to rival schools on travel dates.  How much did Carleton need to offer Ramler to stay?  $45 and a can of WD40?

EDIT:  And yes, tmerton, I noticed those fighting words.

What if these things came in Johnnie Red?   :D

Could you post on the MIAC football boards and ice fish at the same time?   ;)

(Offseason!  It is still 12 weeks before the first game.)

And you're not even going to post weekend highlights from the Fighting Hawks in response? ???

It seems traveling in Australia has its dangers ...

Quote(CNN) -- A pilot dragged his passenger to safety and buried him neck-deep in sand to protect him from hypothermia Sunday night after their helicopter crashed in crocodile-infested mudflats in Australia's Northern Territory.

UWW #2 in the pre-season Lindy poll.

First poll I've seen that doesn't have the 'Hawks at #1..so far. Not that it makes a big difference. It's been a bit slow on the boards lately so i thought i'll post something.

The page wouldn't load for me so I have no idea where the Johnnies are.  Maybe someone else will have some luck when following the link.

The link takes you to a short article and does not include a link to the entire listing of the top 25.  At least not one that I could spot.  The article does include the top five which were Mount Union, WHITEWATER, North Central, Delaware Valley and Monmouth.   The article also mentions some WHITEWATER players who are pre-season All Americans.
