Nothing too big, but enough to blow off the cobwebs.

Cripes Duff, it looks like you are on a ride at Disneyland.  ???

It appears that SJU is losing an offensive coach.

SC Times article

It's a loss for the Johnnies, for sure.  Dean is a fantastic coach and well-liked by all.  He was one of my favorite high school teachers, and I enjoyed having him join me at SJU as a coach when I played.  Cathedral is lucky to have him!

Marian Hossa just signed with the Blackhawks! I guess that means no Cup in Chicago! 8) For those of you that don't follow hockey, two seasons ago he played for the Pens and lost in the finals, last season he played for the Red Wings...and lost in the finals, and now the Hawks are doomed. Damn, I like the Hawks. :'(

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Frank returns from his honeymoon and puts up a good blog post.  Some snippets that caught my eye:

* Future Johnnie Steve Johnson had a big game at the state all-star football game Saturday at Husky Stadium. The running back out of Mahtomedi had touchdown runs of 3 and 52 yards in the Metro team's 54-13 blowout victory over the Outstate.

* For those who have been asking (and there have been several), though I've had this in the newspaper before, Joe Boyle goes into the start of practice as the starting QB at St. John's.

Unlike some name droppers around here, when I say I was with a big star, I offer proof.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Nice fish and pic, Duff. +k  And I like the Mother Teresa halo effect, too. ;)

bennie,
Looking at my weather map - you can put away the thermals, at least for a while.   :D
Drink plenty of fluids  :P

Not even for shade?  They're good for that, too.

Happy 4th of July everyone!  I just finished Atkinson's An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa, 1942-43.  A good read that I would recommend (it even won a Pulitzer Prize).  Keep the lads in mind.
