Just one question for LC fans, does Elliot go to class at all??

Oh, another thing I liked how Elliot started yelling at his O-line for false starting, he has to remember that his O-line is not Univ. of Utah.  Which brings up another question, how many girlfriends/wives does Elliot have?  Polygamy studies in Utah??

Cobbernation....glad you mentioned the late hit call on Elliott and why proper officiating mechanics have two guys over at the sidelines.....one official gets the spot and the other comes by (who was trailing the play and not picking his nose) deals with the "extra stuff".  The trailing offiicial threw the flag....which is totally proper.

Wow, cobber, you're intense.

As a preliminary, perhaps you're misunderstanding the Linfield talk.  They "smack-talk" with the best of them, including telling you that you wasted your time going out there.  That's pure trash-talking in fun, even though they say it with a straight face, because in the next breath they will invite you to join in their tailgate.  They really are warm and hospitable crew, they just tease in a way that is unfamiliar to us middle-westerners.  The 50-year old crew was called out by several of the Linfield faithful as bad apples, and are not condoned.  If you look hard enough, every school has them.

I wasn't there to witness the officiating.  Yeah, there were some bad no-calls in the SJU-UWW game, but the inconsistency evened out.  Again, I wasn't there, but should the refereeing really matter? The alleged holding was at least debatable, it appears, to it wasn't as though the referee pulled it out of his rear to screw the cobbs.

Bottom line, you played a hell of a game but came up a bit short.  Momentum breaks in many ways-- had SJU not fumbled on the UWW 10 yard line in the first, our game would have been different too.  But what's to say that Linfield, like SJU, couldn't come back against the Cobbs when down two scores?

Take it for what it's worth-- you came to the second round and deserved to be the MIAC rep in the second round. SJU went to UWW and pulled an Ole.  Let it lie and start looking at next year.

cobbernation,

I'm glad you made it home safely and I commend you for making a long trip to support your team.  That being said, try to show some class.  Thanks.

Thanks to Johnnie Red, Veek, 56321, ROR, 105, Duffman, finsleft and everyone else for an awesome season.  Thanks for all the great tailgaiting, food and beers.  I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Whitewater as all the Johnnies and fans made us feel totally welcome.  It was good to get some MIAC support out there, although the game wasn't exactly the result people were looking for.  It looks like the Johnnies reverted back to their early season ways of being careless with the football.  On another note, I'm pretty sure the polish sausages need to be a permanent addition to the stiftungfestivities.  Also, I took video of the infamous 16oz Beast Ice Shotgunning Championship and I was wondering how the other vids got posted on here so I can throw that one on the internet.

I'm looking forward to next season and if anyone wants to get together for some beers, holla at your boy.
Heaven isn't too far away,
Closer to it every day

Love that line, Esq. You learn that in law school? :D

Frank, since we're neighbors, I'll be "holla"ing. Need to actually meet Willy and Mongo in person one of these days. Really. Some of my best friends are Gusties. Wouldn't want one living next door to me or marrying my daughter, but some of my best friends are Gusties. ;) JK, you boys are alright. At least you had the sense to not go to St. Thomas!!

Touchdown Tommy

fins,

You have a daughter??  Ut oh, watch out old man...

Don't have to worry about FrankR, he is intent on marrying 56321's daughter Kelly.
Chasing MILFs since '82...

Foss

cobbernation, nice job in looking like an idiot. You're the only person in the 3 years I've read post patterns who has said that the Linfield players were yelling at each other. Why outright lie about things? Take your loss and move on, buddy. Oh, and Brandon Tom got molested on several other plays the refs didn't bother calling. Your squad only had 3 penalties called on them all day. 3! And you're going to gripe about the officiating? Wow.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Well there goes the gene pool!

cobbernation

Foss--you didn't see your defense yelling at each other when the cobbs were driving?  If you were in the stands then you must not have, because I saw and heard them.

I know that trash-talking is all fun, I guess I wasn't used to having people yell at kids.  It's all fun and games until you hear and see it in person, it was totally different.  Esq--I agree with you on every school having their share of trash talking capabilities.  It was different at LC, they had fans yelling at kids right in front of the Cobber fans and I know some parents didn't like it when LC fans call out numbers and say crude things about their kids.  At least I know I wouldn't like it.

Willy Wonka

Bus - I've heard good things about Kelly. Is she comparable to Kapowski in her prime (Saved By the Bell, high school years)?

fins - Rumor has it the Bus may be making a trip up north on Feb 18 to take in the SJU/GAC basketball games in Collegeville. You are welcome to join in any fun that takes place. Also, the eldest Boese will be dominating SCSU's girls basketball team on Jan 21. Frank joined me at that game last year. They are both Saturday's, so there is plenty recovery time for work on Monday :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Eh what? You say basketball? I don't know why the fun should stop just because football's over. Keep me posted.
Not so worried about work on Monday as I am about being late for 8 o'clock mass on Sunday.

Linfield fans--who is #16 on your defense who amassed 16 total tackles on Sat.?

beancounter

#16 is Brian Mehl, sophomore from Eugene.

This griping about the officiating on both sides sort of cracks me up.  Overall, it was a very well officiated game.   The only gripe I have about the situation in the playoffs is that the NCAA uses six man crews for the playoffs.  In the NWC (and I think in the MIAC, but I'm not totally certain), seven man crews are used.    The back judge gives another set of eyes looking from the inside of the field out.   Most of you may be surprised what a difference the seventh man makes.
