Cobbernation,

Games over -- the Cats are on to the next game -- so we can all Monday morning quarterback as to what if's!

As to your comments about Brett Elliot -- as far as I know he has no wives and I don't think it's anyones business as to how many girlfriends he may or may not have.

These boards are certainly not the place to level innuendos of "personal destruction" against any student/athlete.

#16 is an animal and looks like a future all-american.  Good pickup by the Cats to get him.  Is he a LB or DL?

LBC-I agree with the seven man crew, I think in the MIAC it's six.  That seventh man could have made a difference both ways in the game on sat.  I give the Cats props on how loud the stadium got on third downs.  I enjoyed the atmosphere within the stadium, it was fun to be a part of.  I also thought the jumbo-tron was pretty sweet.  I just wished when CC scored it would say Touchdown, but no such luck. haha.

Good game Linfield I give you credit on being the #1 team in the land and good luck the rest of the way.

64--yes I know, not the best thing to ask, but does he get any kind of "special treatment" at school.  It's not like D-1 schools where teachers give slack because of the importance of a student/athlete.

As you most likely read my most recent post yes the game is over, I will move on.  But know what do I do with the cobbers season over?  I guess just do work.  Good year to the MIAC we represented.

What are the chances of the Vikings winning this weekend, when the Lions have no Mariucchi on the sideline?

Prediction for Tues.

Johnnie fans-what were the field conditions like on Sat.?  Does WW have field turf or natural grass?

Must have been tough to watch the game with so many turnovers, especially when WW capitalized on them.  I wish the CC would have done the same, but give LC credit they are a good team.

Cobbernation,
There is no  "special treatment" for student/athletes at Linfield.  It is borne in the coaching philosophy of the entire coaching staff.  You live by the academic and sport rules or you don't put on the uniform.  There have been numerous occasions over the years where that has been enforced. Some players this season experienced that standard.

The most vivid example was perhaps when the basketball team was one of the best in the NAIA.  The team was on a long road trip and misbehaved....Coach Wilson told the entire "starting five" to turn in their jerseys.  A lesson in life those student/athletes never will forget and probably made them better citizens as a result.  They never got to compete after that day at Linfield.

There is no "special treatment" for student athletes---it's either right or wrong and you are at the school to first get an education according to the rules!

Thanks 64 for the input, thats why I think D-III sports are the purest form of athletics left.  No money to play sports, just for the love of the game.  Elliot won't have to worry though, he will get paid to play football in the near future.

Natural grass at UWW.  The field looked to be in very good shape.  A tarp kept the elements off of it.

Duff--were the injuries a big factor on how the warhawk defense kept your runnig game in check?

DuffMan

I think losing Mathiason hurt us quite a bit.  His replacement looked a bit bewildered by the blitz packages UWW showed.  Early on, the run game started off fine.  Then Dold (who was replacing Mathiason) went down.  It seemed to die from there.  Also, a run game doesn't help when you give them the ball 8 times.

repete, that is classic! Thanks for promoting the Stiftungsfest. Maybe the Vikings can get Finslet to bring down his rv and some of the "babes" from the strip clubs along highway 10 north of St. Cloud so they can stay competitive with the Bucs in pre-game activities.

JR-
Why go all the way up there when there are cheaper "babes" available at the "gentlemen's club" in Eden Valley? Much closer to NYA. (I hear one of them is from old Norwood, so yuo might get a hometown discount  ;) ;D)

(yes, that was said tongue in......er,  cheek) 8)
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Miacmaniac, don't you mean Watkins instead of Eden Valley? ;) That brings up a good point. When are Eden Valley and Watkins going to merge into one town like Norwood Young America? Inquiring minds want to know.

Speaking of my mind, Kilted Rat, any chance you could get me a prescription for some Prozac? Still depressed after Saturday's game. :'(

Kilted Rat

JR,

It'll be 2 and a half years and lots of tests until I have those privileges. I can hook you up with a few names of Johnnies who have those privileges!

Make you a deal, once I'm done with school, you get all the prozac you need and I get away with speeding in Carver county... deal? ;D

An interesting side note; St. John's Wort has been shown to be mildly effective in treating mild to moderate depression. It is even prescribed for that purpose in many European countries!

I personally think a healthy dose of St. John's Winning is more effective. :-\
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Foss

cobbernation, Thanks for the explanation. I meant to call you a sore loser (you seem to be better now. And I've probably said some things that didn't sound so good after my team lost, too) instead of an idiot. That's my bad on that one. By the way your team looked on Saturday, I'm sure they'll be back next season.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

cobbernation

Foss--no hard feelings here, you had a right to say what you did.  I should have explained it better.  I wish the cats the best of luck the rest of the way.  Oh, and beat whitewater.
