Willy, as someone who was standing on the goal line, observed the play, talked to Johnnie players and refs after the game:  The ball did indeed cross the goal line.  After the Tommie player was whistled down.  The ball needs to cross the goal line while play is live if you want it to count.

Doesn't mean the whistle was blown at the right time.

Doesn't mean it wasn't, now does it?

I think the main problem the Tommies have is purple.  How can you win when you're dressed like a sally (except for UWW and MUC, of course  ;) )?

I just hope we continue to Sally up again this year. I think sally has 3 since '03  ;D

To take a break from football talk, check out this photo I took last Friday (click to embiggen).  I never figured out if the owner was in the buffet or at the Cost Cutters next door, but based on his choice of transportation, either of the two struck me as funny  :D

Duff,

When did you get your new car and you were in Shakopee and didn't call? ;)

The quote is actually "you need to butch-up Sally" when things are tough...Mount is a little different type of Sally...we all know that

Cobbernation, I hope you enjoyed the Cobbers' win over Willamette.  I don't mean to call you out publicly, but did we ever settle our bet?  I honestly don't remember.  I'm not going to be able to make the trip to Mick's this year (damn weddings on Johnnie/Cobber weekend, who does that?).  Are you planning on making a trip to Collegeville this season?

TC,

You don't remember me bringing your case to Collegeville at last year's SJU/Cobber game.  First I had to bypass the campus security where they said "There is no alcohol allowed on campus."  Thanks to my quick wits, I responded by saying I owe this case to a Johnnie and we are not going to drink it here.  I had to do anything so I could have a s-fest burger cooked by JR.  Yes the bet is settled.  I might be making a trip up to SJU country later this fall with some johnnie friends.  I will most likely be at the Johnnie/Cobber game next saturday and TC the game is at 1 pm and the bride and groom have to idea if you come to the ceremony or not.  They only see you at the reception.  Sounds like I will see you in Moorhead!

I hate the Tommies as much if not more than I hate the Johnnies.  And while Caruso may suck as a person, he is a good football coach.  He has good talent around them and is installing an arrogance only matched by the Johnnies.  Their backers are the best in the MIAC, and until someone realizes they're slow and you need to make them run with your inside receivers, their defense will be very good.  They are the favorite in the MIAC, but I don't always bet on the favorite and wouldn't in this case, maybe because I can't stand them, maybe because I just don't want to see it happen.  I think Bethel will quietly surprise people, but we'll see this weekend.

Why can't I help but think that there is a joke here somewhere, ala sofaking a few years back?  Same might also be said for Arodswrath or whatever the hell that name was.

.

Funny how winning is coupled with arrogance, your new and talking alot of smack for someone who has not posted much.  For years coaches told me that UST gets the best talent, but as we have seen its not always the best talent that wins games, and I love how people seem ready to kick the conference champion off their throne before one conference game has been played...yes the Tommies will be good, but so will Concordia, Bethel and St. Olaf but if you guys want to crown them, then crown them

I'm not crowning them, and I don't think they'll win the conference, which I said first.  I also said Bethel is good, and CCM is too.  I think UST has the best team and if all plays out the way it should, they are going to win it, but it rarely if ever does.  And even if they have had the best talent for years (which they haven't for the past how many, St. Olaf had until last year) they now have the coaching to go along with it.  I do not like Caruso, I never will, but I think he knows his stuff.

That was far from smack talk, and yes I have not posted before.  Not sure where those two correlate.

I am not coupling winning with arrogance, I'll leave it at that.

Duff, you would always be welcome in Shakopee, as long as you are not here to appear in front of me. ;) Speaking of Shakopee, their town team won the Class B state baseball tournament on Monday in Arlington when they beat Prior Lake 5-1. The last time they won the state championship was in 1959. Always nice to have two teams from the same league battling it out for the state title. Unfortunately, Chaska, who is also in the league, did not make it this year after having been in the tournament the last nine years. It was a little different watching the game to see the pitchers for Shakopee and Prior Lake from the Chaska Cubs. They were drafted after the section tournament was over. The Cubs pitcher for Shakopee, Ryan Seifert, was named MVP of the state tournament.

The starting catcher for Prior Lake is Ben Wartman, the Tommie running back. He did not play in the tournament because of the start of the football season.

Touchdown Tommy

Holy 'ish excellent banter today.  All we need now are a few more "Fly by Night" Bethel posters (I'm looking at you Freebird and Mighty Royal)...

BTW: I am putting the first confrontation with Collegeville's Finest at no later than 8:15am Saturday morning.  Same ish Different year.

Looking forward to hanging with my buddy Clark.

Quote from: ARodsPACK on September 08, 2009, 04:01:47 PMIf I'm guessing right, you're the guy who showed up and sat in the stands on the UW-RF side and started complaining loudly because he was over charged to get in the place, I think it cost all of 2 bucks to park and 7 or 8 bucks to for the ticket.  Sorry we broke you.  Then he goes out at half-time, presumably for some Hamms and comes back in to the stands smoking a cigar, he was asked to put it out and he let it continue to burn.  He's acting like he's holding on to an Opus X and it smells like some buck cigar.  Then after the game has been decided and all that was needed was a couple of kneel downs, he asks one of his friends if they play UW-RF again, when he's told no he announces to the people around him that it was good so he didn't have to come to this dump of a stadium or town.
At that point I ask if he could stop acting like a d@#k.  That started some verbal back and forth until he finally leaves and sarcastically says, way to be good hosts.
This clown comes in to our living room, takes a dump on the couch and says we're bad hosts for pointing out that's not appropriate behavior.
Anyway, it was a very even game and the other SJU fans I met were very friendly.
My response: right, wrong, it's 8, not broke, correct, wrong again, doubtful, correct on stadium, incorrect on town, verbal mostly forth, not much back, give it up.

The sizzle is served!

Whoa there, TC!  Lighten up on the condescension: "...28-24 win over UW - Cow College sucks." A comment like that could prompt a UWRFer to point out that 11 known pedophiles (at last count) lurk within the confines of St. John's Abbey.  Worse, we farmers might burn incense and chant abusively, "May all the dairy in your fridge come from China."

The class warrior comment calls your perception of finsleft's brilliance ("Fins tweets were pure gold...Beyond awesome") into question. A bit of research yielded these nuggets: "...have to stand in a line a block long to get in ('into', please) this dump...all the fat farm girls are here with their cowbells...(F-bomb)ing Wisconsin refs...did I mention this place is a dump..."  Ah, the irony. Good enough for the NFL for 20 years, but not SJU.

So, Johnny fans, if this is awesome, then Don Rickles is Catholic and diarrhea sets the gold standard.

raiderguy - Do you have to pull out that trump Ace so darn quick?  You're like Neil Armstrong at a dinner party who sits back while everyone else tries to one-up the previous guy, waiting to throw out your "I walked on the moon." line. (Acknowledgement to Brian Regan for that one)

kestrel - If you want to take over my job as grammar policeman, go over to the WIAC board. It's always an abundant harvest over there on that front.

For all the reasons cited by OleHog earlier, USTD should always be the team to beat - which is true this year, as TDT has stated.  But they won't.  They should be dominant, but they will lose to SJU on 10/17.  I think John nailed them.  SJU will keep it close and USTD will choke.  Write it down.

kestrel;

That's a bad show - pedophilia is not a joking matter.  Please don't respond by trying to ratchet up the rhetoric again.  Just let the thread go.
