With both Locey and Lucey quoted in that article, I got confused in a hurry.  I'm going to stick with Kemper's quote, however, about the Cobbers, "They were a pretty classy group of guys, especially when the game was over."

Hey, only about 975 more views and we hit the 100,000 mark.  MIAC faithful, does the lucky viewer win the fame and fortune of being recognized and commended for such a feat?

SUMMIT!!!!!

JR-
Because the "club" is in Eden Valley, as the Watkins City Council bothered to read the owner's request for zoning change, unlike their neighbors to the west   :)

I doubt the 2 will ever merge into one...there is still enough pride in each town hat when they play in town-team baseball, the crowd is big and really razzing the opposition (sorta like SJU fans @ UST  :) )  That and the seven miles of farmland between the two should keep them separate.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

News from talking with Cobber fball players.  At the coin flip before the game, Elliot tried to joke around with the Cobber captains, then at half-time he and another LC captain didn't even shake the Cobber captains hands in good luck.  Wow, that's just not right.  I know there have been games where I have played and was down by more than 7 at half, but I still shook hands with the opponents.  It's a respect factor.  That's all I got.

DC--It does seem like T. Steffens has been at SJU forever, but he is only 22.  But get this, talking with a guy from Moorhead State U.  They have 2 guys on their wrestling team that are 30+ years of age.  Does the NCAA need to have an age requirement to participate in athletics?  Any thoughts?

Cobbernation, I don't know if this is one of the guys your MSU friend was talking about, but one of those wrestlers is probably Nate Baker. He's actually "only" 24 or 25. He was considered one of the best prep wrestlers in the nation when he was at Jackson County Central and wrestled at the U of M for a couple of years. Injuries and some other personal stuff led him to leave the U and he spent like a year student teaching. But now he's back. If he's healthy, he's a ton of fun to watch on the mat, and that's coming from someone who despises wrestling (he was also a stud football player at JCC). For what it's worth, I don't think there's any need for an age requirement.

I think you mean that J. Steffensmeier has been at SJU forever.  Jamie is the LB and his twin, Tony is the CB.

Is there a requirement that dictates when a person is too old to go back and get a degree ???

cobbernation

Duffman-sorry about the mixup

D-train-I meant for athletics mostly, but you bring up a good point if they want to go back to school for a degree.

Not that it makes it right but, that may be why...

There's a WR at South Carolina who's in his 40's

Tez--That's where I think the NCAA says that he can't play.  But on the other hand, if he is there for education and is making progress towards graduation they probably can't stop anyone from playing.  Oh well.

Anyone on here have an Apple iPod?  Does it work well?

Why not let him play? He's a former Marine. Look at BYU. Most of those guys are older due to Church missions. If you can play and have time remaining let them.
